I'm going to start a new children's clothing line

Posted by All Done on September 2, 2006, at 16:43:56

It will be called Don’t Grow.

Each item will come with the following disclaimer.

Warning: Packing up this item because your tiny little baby will never, ever fit into it again and because, “hey! Your sister-in-law could use it!” may cause mild to severe discomfort including:

Headache
Lumpinthethroatitis
Uncontrolled tear ducts
Nausea
Ovulatory pain

Should these side effects persist for longer than the duration it takes to get the clothes out of your house, proceed to the nearest daycare, park, Planned Parenthood, or Toys-R-Us.

;-)

Save some of his favorites; it will bring a smile to hold them, even smell them again.

That's why women have another child ..... for me, it certainly wasn't for the 9 months of uncomfortable walking, sleeping, peeing, bending, s*x ....

I have many of the things my son wore when he was a baby still packed away, unable to part with them.

The good news is that older boys clothes aren't really all that individual or particularly memorable, so it gets much easier as they get older.

Annierose is right. Save a few. When he's too old to feel foolish being sentimental, he'll love seeing his stuff and wondering that he was ever that little.

My favorite of his sleepers with the bear face on its bottom is currently being worn by a realistic looking baby doll. Ok. That may be a bit odd of me. But my mother let me use my baby clothes as doll clothes when I was little.

My mother STILL has her favorites of my dresses from tinyhood. And she let me use some of my baby clothes for doll clothes, too.

Sorry for your lumpinthroatitis, AllDone. xoxo

Yep. I saved about five of the outfits I just loved to see him in. Plus, two Cubs outfits that the in-laws would have nothing to do with being Sox fans and all.

Precisely what I'm trying to avoid. All of it. ;)

I've noticed. I'm not very concerned about parting with the track pants and baseball/football/basketball t-shirts. My son absolutely refuses to wear anything with a button. It started when he was about a year and a half. He must have had a traumatic experience I was unaware of because one day, I was dressing him and he started screaming and crying. It became a huge ordeal each time I attempted to sneak a button in here or there. The only time I can get a button on him now is for pictures. And I'm lucky to get that. Stubborn little man he is. But I pick my battles, I guess.

I think his wife will probably enjoy seeing them even more than he will.

Not odd. My mom let me use my baby clothes on the dog. :-o

As I posted to Dinah, my mom let me use my clothes for the dog. As a matter of fact, she bought a doll baby carriage for me and I never put dolls in there. Only the dog. Poor Pepsi. :(

Thanks for the sympathy. Fortunately, the lumpinthroatitis only lasted a little bit. The clothes have been removed from the house and my sister-in-law was very grateful. I'm actually starting to get excited about seeing her little one in some of the outfits. :)

I hope you're doing well, Racer. Sorry I haven't emailed in forever. I stink. Well, actually, today I smell quite nice. Beautiful by Estee Lauder. But you know what I mean.

xoxo back to you. :)

Laurie

I think that's what my mother wears -- it smells like muguet? That's her favorite scent, in any form.

And you don't owe me anything -- email when you like, don't when you don't. You're still good with me, always.

Hmm...that word looks awfully icky for something that smells so nice, doesn't it?

But I went home and realized it was actually Pleasures I was wearing. So, sadly, I don't know that I actually smelled like muguet. Perhaps I smelled like a zoo, which is what I was expecting your post to say. ;)

Thanks, Racer. I've been thinking about you and I hope you're doing well.
