many things were fluorescent in color
the faint smell of hairspray was ever-present in the air, because hair had to be BIGGER, TALLER!! teasing our hair was a good idea, and perms were great too
we wore rubber bracelets, plastic bracelets- the more the better
scrunchies were all around hanging out with banana clips,
we wore big socks pushed down and keds and reebok sneakers-often the high top variety
swatch watches were a must have, and if you were younger your parents might have beaten up another adult in order to get a cabbage patch doll for you
earrings were big and dangly
we loved make up
we were livin' on a prayer with our friend bon jovi
michael jackson was closer to his natural state
cyndi lauper told us that girls just wanna have fun
We had to have our MTV
..that's all I've got for now
peace out :-)

I remember the 80's cartoons and tv shows and characters..
I loved fraggle rock, rainbow brite, strawberry shortcake, my little ponies, and care bears (and I still love all of them)
I will probably think of a lot more later, but i'm tired...
I also remember having lots of neon-colored clothing...
I was born in 83...so some 80's stuff i was too young to remember. Mostly i remember 80's residue left over on the early 90's...lol.

WildCard that was just plain mean to bring that up :P
We all forgot Billy Idol
Not that that's necessarily a BAD thing.

Oh Gosh, I forgot all about those, Are you my sister?
She loved everything you mentioned.
I remember she had a fraggle rock tape, and on her Birthday she invited 12 people, she told everyone she wanted a "my little pony" and every single person bought her one, we thought she'd be dissappointed but she was thrilled.

No we all didn't! I listed him under 'Classics'. And how could you not love Billy Idol??? :-)
And no I'm not on drugs, I just love 80's music and have been making a list of stuff I'd like to get on CD. Of course now I might as well wait until I get a MP3 player. One of these days...

I hang my head in shame.
It's not hard to not love Billy Idol
I was not a fan of 80's music I'm afraid, I think I delved deeply into the underground soley to escape it : )
Darn it was just so squeaky and fresh and shiny..Honestly T.C
What self respecting depressed person could handle all those bright colours and boppy people?
Don't worry, I still like you though
Even though you liked Wham..
bleeeeeeeeeeech

I didn't say I liked Wham, just that it was memorable for the 80's. I didn't hate them though, "I want your Sex' was a pretty damn cool song.
But Billy Idol, "Dancing with yourself". How is that squeaky clean? I think they were just alot more subtle back then.
I think the superficial part of the 80's was 'bright colours and boppy people'. But deeper down was the coke crashes; remember '[I know this much is] True' - by Spandau Ballet? 'How Soon Is Now?' by The Smiths. 'Turning Japanese" by The Vapors...
...okay, I never really got that one. 'there's a rat, under my bed, and a little yellow man in my head'. What is that all about????-T
Pass The Dutchie by Musical Youth
That was just a cool song.

I want your sex was George Michael though, and I thought some of his stuff was okay,
When I think of Wham I think of "Wake me up before you Go-Go!" and those enormous teeth.I was teasing you though
I hope you know that.
