I HATE okra! I love fried squash though. I also like it boiled with some onion and a little milk and flour added to the water after its done. I make potato soup the same way except when I thicken the soup I use flour and/or mash up some of the potatoes. Yum! Never had fried pickles, though I've heard of them. And green tomatoes are too sour for me.

One time I was out with a work associate down from Maine, and she just HAD to have chicken fried steak because that's what we're known for. I was like, funny, I haven't had chicken fried steak in like 20 years!

Now the Tex-Mex is to die for though.

mmmm- I love them things!

I'm excited about my roadtrip. We'll be spending time in southern Appalachia, which is the home of my personal favorite BBQ - N. Carolina style.

I can't wait to eat some ribs and pulled pork. And if they have fried green tomatoes- I'll eat some of them too :)

Sounds like you're from down south.

Of course you don't have to say if you don't want.

:-)

Any sign of baby yet?

I've already told her the day is tomorrow so no barbecue for her. Tomorrow the baby will be born. Fireworks in her honor. And we are both from North Carolina I know she doesn't mind me saying that. Love Phillipa

I'm not afraid to say that I'm a southerner. WildcardII, I hope hour B-H contractions will get organized soon. In the meanwhile, enjoy a plate of pulled pork for me.

yummmmmmY!

I have tried the regional bbq of many states across the south, and i have to say- prefer the slow cooked hickory smoke & seasonings of the NC style the best. Memphis is a distant second, in my opinion (Had to add that last statement. I know that bbq is closer to my heart than most political issues)

nothin' like some pork protein. mmm. And trying all the different sauces. And the potato salad. mmm.
