Just curious, does it bother you that you, or are you okay with it? Maybe you're on the higher end of the bell curve? I don't know, I'm not a guy. I guess age, hormones, stuff like that makes a difference, and whether it's getting in the way of other things.

I agree that masturbation is a personal subject, and what I shared above isn't something I usually share with random strangers..
I do think that alot of information shared on this site is of a personal nature, like our medical records etc.
For those that are bipolar, not all, but I'll speak for myself saying that an increased sex drive when hypomanic is a 'symptom' I've had to deal with. If i'm in a relationship that isn't so bad, and if i'm not it really isn't either because of other stimulation through masturbation.
I really have little control if and when my sex drive is on the high side, just like if i'm depressed and its not working.
I don't know, I guess if I wouldn't have included my sex drive to the psychiatirst that would have been a point against not having bipolar disorder, but its just who I am.
If I was in a relationship though, I guess I wouldn't be doing so much.

I'm sure some of it for me is anxiety, but no matter how much xanax I take it does no good. I don't want to go on anything else, so I guess I have to deal with it. Do you have ways of quelling it when it's high?

LOL.....oooohhhh....well I was thinking maybe alternatives. ; ) I've been trying to ignore mine too. I've been taking an herb that's supposed to lower it in women, don't know if it works or not.

I do realize that past a certain point, it's not fun. It's just painful and annoying.
Treating the underlying hypomania and anxiety is another option, and my preferred one.

Yeah, I hear you on that. At the risk of being crude, sometimes I want to try putting xanax where it's not intended to go, just to see if it would help!

And since the topic of Masturbation is far less likely to get me blocked than Politics, I will say that I have long scrificed variety for convenience (besides, if I have an orgasm, I am less likely to post scabrous material on the Politics board immediately post act [I am giving potent ammunition to anyone who wishes to engage me in debate about policy... ])ah well, no strength in concealment, though I am hardly the secret-spilling type (actually, I am, though in a slightly different sense :-))

actually I remember reading "Kaplan and Saddock's a brief synopsis of psychiatry" (i'm pretty sure that is it but amazon doesn't like it) and they said that in a psych interview one isn't supposed to ask:
'do you masturbate'
because people tend to deny it.
rather one is best off to ask:
'how often do you masturbate'
because then people tend to tell you.
lol.
my understanding is that it is more unusual not to do it...
but then psych meds have an impact etc.

lol Mine never asked about sex drive or masturbation. I told him, I knew it wasn't right the level of my sex drive and mood with it. Even though it feels great when it happens. Unfortunately when the high wheres off, i'm left extreamly low inall area's too...until the next time.
Very annoying to say the least when the feelings can be spread out by months (for having a low drive) Things seem to be more in moderation though now at the moment.
