A grown lady hurt my child today

Posted by lynn971 on February 12, 2006, at 22:40:04

I know that this should prob. go on parenting, but I know the people here.

There is a little girl at school that has a low self esteem. My daugter tries to include the girl, but the girl refuses to get attention. A while back the little girl was not invited to someone's sleepover. When the girl called to talked to my daughter's friend, her friend said to tell the girl that they were at Wal-mart so that the girl's feelings would not get hurt.

Anyway, they found out that my child was lying and called me, but before they called me they spoke to my daughter and said some hurtful things to her.

Today, the same child went on a rampage because my daughter had put her phone and shoes down on two chairs to save a seat for she and her friend. When they got back to the seat, that girl was there. My child told her friend, well I guess you lost your seat. That girl went to her mom, crying and told her mom.

The mom later calls to talk to my child and says that she was so mad she could hit her.

I told her that she (the mom) had better never threaten to hit my child again and that she and her daughter needed to leave my child alone. I also told her that her husband should never talk to my daughter again either. (Last time he spoke to my daughter). I told them that if they had a problem they needed to talk to me.

Anyway, The whole family called tonight to apologize. They realized that their daughter had not told the whole story. She admitted that my child had her phone and shoes there to save the seat. This was at a function for the kids.

I am glad that the whole family called to apologized. Now I just have tears flowing down my face. I also do not want this to trigger depression in me. I am trying to snap out of it.

I am just so sad.

Its hard to see our kids hurt. Harder than anything. But if you talk about it she will grow and learn and be a better person for the experience.
Sounds like you a fantastic Mom taking care of your child and your kid sounds socially responsible, which sadly is not so common these days.
Sounds like it was handled well and resolved pretty much.
Just a little sorting out of feelings involved, and you can all learn and grow.
Take care,
You a good Mom I reckon,

ok, I need to go to bed, but I cant. I have to work tomorrow. I am also tutoring after school.

I am tempted to take something to help me sleep.
I guess I better not.

I wont. I am just babbling. I refuse to stay sad over this situation. I just hate to see my child hurt. I guess I am still mad. They did apologize and I have to forgive. Sometimes it is hard to forgive. I know that if I dont forgive, It will only hurt me. Unforgiviness holds you back.

But I am still hurt. Ok, many people are hurt so much worst. I will quit having a pitty party. My daughter is fine. No one physically hurt her. Now that I think about it, I should be embarrassed about my pitty party. Look at these moms whose children have been kidnapped or something. \\

Isnt it amazing how if someone hurts you it is one thing, but if they hurt your child it is something else.

Ok. I will go to bed.

Love you guys.

Don't discount your feelings. Yes, worse things can happen to children but this hurt you, you need to feel OK feeling that hurt and then move on. If you deny it you are more likely to dwell on the nagative. You sound like you are a wonderful, caring mother and I think your daughter probably appreciated the fact that you felt hurt when she felt hurt and you stood up for her, that is very important to kids.
Best of health,
Laura

Un-freaking-believable! Not only was it way out of line for the mother to reprimand your child instead of coming to you, but to tell her she's so mad she could hit her?! That's outragous! You have every right to be upset.

Its alot harder to forgive someone who has hurt someone you love, as opposed to hurting you. Of course it will only hurt you and not them to hang on to the bad feelings. You just have to try to let them go for YOU.

As long as your daughter knows you don't find their behavior acceptable, and she should always let you know if any adult mistreats her or threatens her, then she'll know her mom is looking out for her. And that's really what matters anyway.

My post (above) seems to have gotten stuck.

I am assuming you were going to say un-freaking believable. lol

I know. I am working on the forgiving thing. I just cant imagine another grown-up besides my mom telling me such a thing at the age of 13.

My daughter had a good day yesterday though. They had a pep rally and the girls basketball team was in the play offs. MY daughter is a cheerleader. So she had fun.
