Air France crash at Toronto airport TRIGGER

Posted by partlycloudy on August 2, 2005, at 16:00:47

Crashed upon landing in rain and is in flames.
omigod I cannot watch the news any longer.
I remember 20 years ago an Air Canada flight crashed at the same location.
To see the place I know so well on the news, it's too much for me today.
My apologies to anyone this post might upset.
i can't even sign my name

My heart was in my throat when I first heard it.

My friend has surgery thursday and he sent his kids off to Toronto today to stay with cousins.

They were on a different airline, but with code sharing and all ....

Well, it doesn't take much to get me to panic anyway.

Amazing that there haven't been any fatalaties. And - to make the news equisitely Canadian, eh?, they made all the people on the flight go through Customs.
My home and native land.
No wonder I don't jay-walk; it's been bred into me...

And I'm easily triggered at the moment.
I am so relieved that everyone on board the plane survived such a horrific experience. It seems that ever since 9/11 I haven't been able to calmly watch an unfolding news event on television. (Doesn't help that it forever changed my birthday, too, but that is so selfish of me.)

You're a 9/11 baby? My first grandkid is a 9/11 kid - the same 9/11. Long story. I'll email it.

The kids arrived - 12 hours late! They were supposed to arrive at the time the Air France plane went off the runway and they got diverted to Ottawa.

What an adventure for a couple of kiddos on their first trip alone!

Yes, though mine was (ahem) about 4 decades earlier. I also share the birthday with my husband's ex-wife - bizarre!! Every one has to be born sometime, eh?
I bet those kids won't ever forget their trip home by way of Ottawa.

The Airbus, the type of Air France aircraft that crashed at Pearson (Toronto) International, is reported as the safest airliner in the world. It will be interesting to see what the exact causes of the crash where. Planes very rarely crash in Canada, but I guess it was just a matter of time and circumstances.

I was scared and sad when I saw this on the news. Then I was extremely happy when I heard that all the passengers lived and that there were no serious injuries. It's still horrible that this happens, and my first thought was instinctively that it was a terror strike. I'm just glad that all the passengers were okay. But now my fears of flying are getting worse again.

PC, I hope you're doing okay. I'm thinking of you and I hope that your day gets better!

Thanks - I made a point of not watching TV news today. That helped a great deal. Darn that Wolf Blitzen...er, Blitzer. Imagine being named after a wild animal and one of Santa's reindeer.
