The Omen of Black Cats

Posted by AdaGrace on May 24, 2005, at 17:36:50

I've heard that if a black cat crosses your path you are in for bad luck.

What happens if you happen to come upon a dead black cat. Is that the same? or not.

Nine lives. Hmmmp. Doesn't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing.

Does foaming at the mouth constitute a hex?

Or how about a man who forgets the cat is there and lets it continue to be there in a not so good sort of way? Is he the bad luck?

Yeah, he is the bad luck.

BINGO!!!!!!!!

a dead black cat eh? that just doesn't sound good...like a stephen king novel called pet cemetery. i think it could be contrued as bad luck only if the cat got up and walked away in a cold stone dead kinda way.

a dead anything is sad, but not necessarily bad luck. But when I see a dead animal, I get sad for a while -- like if there is a kitty or doggy that got run over -- makes me want to cry. Even if it's a duck or bird.

I love cats, so seeing living happy ones is GOOD for me -- black, white, tiger, tortoiseshell, etc. I don't think cats are ever bad luck! (Except if you own one, and it happens to enjoy scratching your new leather couch...well, bad luck for YOU!)

What inspired this question about cats? Did you see a black one or a dead one?

I think this cat was mine. In a wild, I'm going to eat the rats and mice out of the barn, but I'm not going to come near you. the kids, or the house, except at night when I think I can steal the dogs food sorta way. It died. I knew it was going to die. I saw it lay there panting, foaming, dying. Told Mr. Man. He said he's take care of it. But he didn't. Days later, heated days later....the cat is fermenting in the flower bed and I just can't believe that people don't do what they say they are going to do. Especially when it concerns a cat who probably had distemper, and now my lilac bush and my red day lillies probably have distemper too. (just kidding) But you get the picture.

Mr. Man is the bad luck. Bad luck indeed.

Not as much about the cat as I am that Mr. Man didn't take care of it like he said he would. It's typical of his behavior.
