Need help with this situation

Posted by tampagirl70 on May 19, 2005, at 8:36:57

I don't know how to handle this - before my latest OCD episode started, we were in the process of getting our kitchen redone. Right now I'm not interested at all in doing anything like that, its just too stressful and it makes me very anxious. My husband just called and was asking questions about what kind of appliances I want, what kind of sink I want, etc. and I got very anxious. I want a new kitchen, but for some reason its freaking me out and I can't focus on it and make any decisions.

When I had an episode like this about 7 years ago, we had been talking about getting new patio furniture and it freaked me out to talk about getting it with him. Like buying anything with him makes me all panicky and anxious.

How do I get over this?

Is it an option to let your husband make all of the decisions concerning the kitchen?

It would help if you could isolate the cause. Throw a bunch of potential reasons at yourself and see which ones bring a reaction.

Are you afraid that joint purchases mean a deeper commitment?

Are you afraid of buying the wrong thing and feeling stupid everytime you saw it for the next twenty years (my husband would at this point raise his hand and say BINGO)?
