It would help if you could isolate the cause. Throw a bunch of potential reasons at yourself and see which ones bring a reaction.
Are you afraid that joint purchases mean a deeper commitment?
Are you afraid of buying the wrong thing and feeling stupid everytime you saw it for the next twenty years (my husband would at this point raise his hand and say BINGO)?
