Any tattoo enthusiasts???

Posted by medhed on April 28, 2005, at 2:26:43

Last week my local tattoo artist and I were figuring out how much of my body is tattooed and we came up with 65%. Mostly I have American/Japanese with the motif being partial to skulls, tiger, and dragon. What kind do you like? I don't peirce, except my ear, do you? My tatto collecting has taken 12 years so far. I'm glad summer is comming again, everyone loves to look and that's what I got them for.

Why not be vain? LOL

i like to look at tattoos on some people..they can look really nice. as for which look best, i'd have to see it to tell ya. sorry, maybe you wanted a more definitive answer.

i used to want to get my eyebrow pierced but never did..but i loved the look..one of my old friends got her nose pierced and had me hold her hand during it..she freaked out so much from the pain that i decided i would never get a body piercing. amy ;)

Wow! Thats a lot of tattooing!

I have been thinking about getting one.
I know what sort I want.
Imagine a circle - the inside of it is empty.
Then an outline around the circle like cartoon flames on a sun. I have seen one or two done in an outline of black and filled in with red and orange and yellow and it looked pretty cool. Not too big - maybe the size of a golf ball on my back sort of between the back of my neck and my shoulder blades if you get where I mean.

Have been thinking about it.

Maybe one day ;-)

I used to have my tongue pierced - which I liked very much. I was in hospital a couple of years back and had a few operations and they took it out (along with my 7 ear piercings - 3 on each lobe and one round the top of my left ear). They all closed up :-(

Haven't gotten around to getting them redone yet.
One of my friends has a tattoo and so I was going to get my tat and she would get another and then we would both get our tongues peirced - but she chickened out.

It is just a matter of my finding a week where I don't need to talk. Your tongue swells up a fair bit and it is hard to talk and you have to live off ice and ice cream and complan and two minute noodles (which have this uncanny knack of wrapping themselves round the 2 cm bar).

But I will, I will.

You can get this little D bar thing to go through the little knobbly bone in the middle of your ear. Don't know what that bit is called... I quite liked that - but apparantly that one really really HURTS. Have been too afraid of getting my bottom lip or my eyebrow done because when you take them out (as you probably will want to one day) then they do leave a scar.

Tragus.

But not a ring.
A D bar thing...
(Couldn't find that)

An apology is not called for!
A tatto enthusiast usually is someone who has tattos of their own and is very interested in the hobby and lifestyle.
When I first started recieving ink, tattos were not as popular, now they are much more accepted. When I am fully clothed (long sleeves and all) you would not know I was wearing tattos.

Thanks for your interest!

Actually that is cartlidge and has no nerves, that would be one of the least painful peircings. The only nerves associated would be in your skin, they can bleed alot sometimes because the skin in your face has many, many blood vessels. Everybody is different though, pain threshold is a personal matter. Tattoos are quite painful while your getting them, but from a talented artist the pain (and money) are no object because the outcome is desirable. Endorphins are an added plus, 4-5 hours of tattooing in a session will have your teeth chattering you can feel your bones numbing. Just when you think you can take it and you start to recover from the last rush of endorphins the needles hit another bunch of sensitive nerves, there have been sessions where I cannot remember leaving or getting home. Need a designated driver. And the pain is so elusive, if you try to think back and relive it in your mind you can't, even though you know how painful it was.

Thanks for the interest.

Wow, 65 percent, that is a lot! Have a close friend that is a tat artist and has full sleeves, really sharp work too.

I have 3 myself. One on each upper arm, and one stretching from my upper right shoulder to the base of my back. The latter is a wizard, and the process was interesting. I've used the same place on each of mine, and the owner, we call her Mouse, did the last two. She hated it, thought it was kinda scary. Actually offered me a much more expensive tattoo for the same price just to get me to change my mind. Anyway, I was sitting backward in a folding chair, with my head and arms draped over the back, and mid way through she said "Let's take a break." I told her I was fine, to continue (and I was, just relaxed with my eyes closed) and she refused. I hadn't even realized it, but I had broken into a cold sweat, and she had gotten nervous about what was going on. About 20 minutes later, she finished it up. Took about 3 hours total for it. After the first one I was addicted, and always want another one after the last has healed.

My work is done by a few artist that are very prominent in the tattoo buisness here in the U.S.
Huck Spalding, I was lucky enough to meet at a tattoo convention in N.Y. and he took me on even though he was semi retired to his tatto supply buisiness. Top notch work that has really stood up to time, the ink looks practically as good as when it was done. Philip Leiu, Who is actually world renouned did much of the Japanese work. Real head turning stuff that has won quite a few prizes in contest at conventions. Paul Booth, who I had to fill out an application and wait a couple of years to get him to work on me he's so busy. I have to say, when he took me on he really commited himself and gave me many hours. The art is very dark and disturbing, mostly all black ink and I had little say in what he created but trusting him was a given. I also have won quite a few contests with these masterpieces done by a very strange man. And Anil Gupta who I just saw on Ripley's Believe it or Not just the other day, man was I exited to see him on TV. In the East Village in N.Y. this guy from India worked on me for so many hours over a period of time. The detail in his designs is really top, top of the line. It all has gotten to be very expensive, (like buy a house expensive) but it's positively worth it. I recoup some moneys from contests at conventions, I've been paid for pictures in magazines and books, and the attention is priceless.

Peace.

Sounds like some awesome work!

Mine were all done at the same shop in Memphis, TN. Nothing world renowned, but I like the work :)

I have 6 *g* Well, 5 as two are really one.. but they were done at seperate times!!

My favourite is a Thai style turtle on my right foot, done by the most fantastic attoo artist I have come across, In Thailand last year.. Many reasons for the turtle and its very special to me.

I also love my lower back one.. two dragons coming together as one.. a celtic fertility symbol done in London, Ontario 2 years ago with my best friend..

I love my tattoo's.. But I would also love to start my back all over again, and instead of 3 seperate tattoo's, I'd have one large peice done.. and I know what I want done too!!

the most painful was the foot.. all the others I could cope withf ine.. but the foot.. Wowsers it HURT!!!

But, can never decide just what I want or where to get it :-( Until recently, I lived downtown, and walked past three tatoo parlours on my way home. At least two or three times a week, I would stop in front of each of them and contemplate my tatoo. < Sigh > maybe I'm just a chicken :-( I guess I could start with a small one at the ankle, and go from there.

I've wondered about people who have a lot of tattoos...I always see them when they are too far away. It would be nice to get a really close look. I bet there would be amazing detail and artistic talent shown in tattoos on people who are enthusiasts.

Unfortunately I'm too shy to get to know people and I wouldn't have the courage to ask to see a tattoo up close :-(
