What is on Dr. Bob's dinner plate tonight?

Posted by Jai Narayan on January 29, 2004, at 15:46:35

Do you think he takes the time to eat dinner? Is he too busy with all those papers on the desk?
I bet he eats and works at the same time.
Does he get food stains on the papers?
I wonder if he is ever overwhelmed?

Girl, you're more obsessed than I've ever seen! Bob will be having dinner with me tonight. And thanks for asking. Don't ask what's on the menu, as we're not picky eaters. Is this uncivil? Of course not. Dr. Bob would delight in the privilege to have dinner with me. Why do I always second guess myself? Jai, would you like to join us? You can cook, but I want to wear the apron, K?

How kind of you. I will clean up as well. Is that okay? I may have to spend some time talking with Dr. Bob as I have some very important and pressing questions for him. It may only take a few hours....I hope that's okay.

Actually, after careful consideration I've decided that you can have Dr. Bob for the entire evening. I really should set out to work on a project, even if I don't want to. But I'm still wearing my apron. Let me know though how the conversation turns out, OK? What answers are you looking for? I'm sure I could steer you in a more helpful direction than he could anyday. If not, Bubba's always helpful and highly inappropriate, if that's more your fancy. It suits my taste anyway :)

ps. I am choked up about the poem....thanks (nm)

Oh, I see how it is..... Jai and I go to the trouble of cooking dinner and cleaning up the mess and you get him all liquored up... Well, we see who's easy.... Well, it looks like I'm the lady and Miss Honey's the tram...Mmmmm.. I won't say it. However, I could start insulting Bean if you like! Or Jai, if you want to join in, you could insult his watch. It has a calculator, you know... Miss Honey, when you're ready for a real man and therapist, I'll give you Bubba's number. Lemme know when you're in the area. But, keep you claws off. I have a feeling that you're not his type. Perhaps a bit too, I don't know, desperate???? (Ouch, did that hurt? Sorry, it will only sting for a second... :)

Hey now, my husband has a calculator in his watch. Actually, it has more functions than I can count. Okay, I admit, he's a nerd. But he's my nerd! Dull can be really sexy too!

I was watching some program on Discovery Channel last night because it had rocket scientists on it...And believe me, I have YET to see a cute one!!! But I started thinking, "Would they have calculators on their watches, or could they do the math in their heads?" I mean, if they're so smart, couldn't they figure it out with their brains instead of using a calculator....

Also, your husband still wears a watch with a calculator? I just don't know... My boyfriend gave that one up when he was about 12, I think. Is your husband a rocket scientist? If he is, ask him if he can do the math in his head, ok? :)

I am lazy I admit that, so it is perfectly natural to watch you and Jai do all the groundwork while I swoop in for the kill at the end. Plus I can't cook, I'm much better at mixing martinis and providing sparkling conversation.

And calculators on watches are sexy! Well, not really, but I have to defend Bean's honor somehow.

And Bubba so could not handle me by the way. It's all The Enforcer (love the name!) can do to keep me in line, and he has a calculator on at all times! Bubba I presume wears no electronics, nor is he ready at a moment's notice to start swabbing the deck and hoisting jibs and whatnot. I need a T ready for anything.

He's an engineer and really loves gadgets. And he can't do math in his head quickly. I always have to tell him what to tip. You can literally see the wheels turning and cogitating, and I just say "$7.50".

But he's got a four-pack and a great butt!

Well, since you brought Bubba up (hmmm...speaking of bringing Bubba up...) he wasn't wearing a tie at our last session. And his first button on his shirt was unbuttoned. What does that mean? He always wears a tie. Was he hitting on me? And he called me sweetie on the phone.... Now, I'm fairly certain he wants me.. I'm going to ask to sit on his lap next week. I'll tell you what he says.

As for The Enforcer....Give me a break. Does he have a pocket protector as well? Does he use mechanical pencils too? I would have to say that Bubba is ready for anything. Girl, I throw him some things you wouldn't imagine and he doesn't blink. Why don't you ask The Enforcer next week if he sits around in his underwear and see what he says, OK? Yeah, I didn't think so. If he answers you, I might consider him a somewhat decent therapist. Until then, go back to playing with his calculator and calculating the square root of 125. I still can't get over the fact that you actually admit his faults. And there are plenty! I have to say, Bubba isn't perfect at all. But, you'd have to pry his faults from me....I'd never tell... But, he doesn't tuck sweaters (which he never wears) into his pants.... Oh, I'll never let you live that one down! I wish I could draw a picture of that and post it!

An engineer, eh? And he can't do math? And you only tip $7.50... Girl, you're cheap. I'd never marry you! :) He uses the calculator on his watch to figure out the tip? But, you did marry him for his looks, right? It's obvious... Still, I'd do something about the watch. I wouldn't have it. I'm particular like that though. I always tease my boyfriend because he has to wear a tie for work and I say, "Thanks for dressing up just for me." And when I get my nails done I make him look at them for 10 minutes. He just stares at them, and I can tell he's annoyed but he does it anyway, like a little kid just to please me. He's sweet like that. But, I listen to him talk about Mustangs or whatever pooh he talks about and I nod my head, so we compromise. But, if he had a calculator on his watch, I'd flush it. I'm glad he doesn't. I have a sweater that has leopard print and he always says, "That's tacky. It belongs on a cheetah! I'm not going anywhere with you if you wear it." And now I continue to wear it just to spite him!

I'm not the cheap one, he is. I'm always telling him to tip more. We just eat in cheap places I guess. :)

Leopard print, huh? Maybe I should try that with my hubby and see what type of reaction I get. Or maybe my dress for the wedding can be leopard print. Pretty please? Of course I mean as one of the flower girls. Poet and I could be the good flower girl and her evil twin! :)

Hubby's watch has multiple functions: time in all the time zones, timer, alarms, who knows what else. It's too much for me. But I don't really notice the watch.

As a matter of fact, I have no idea what type of watch Bear wears. His only little personal flaw that bugs me is that he is always pulling his hair back into a little stubby pony tail. Except he really doesn't have long hair. One of these days I'll need to interpret HIS hair, as I think he gauges my mood by my hair, which is bipolar, BTW.

Maybe Joslynn can interpret behavior as well as dreams?

OH NO! A ponytail? » gardenergirl

In reply to Re: Speaking of calculators.. » Karen_kay, posted by gardenergirl on January 30, 2004, at 16:14:55

Oh! You did it now! See, you just have to do it! You have to go and admit that your therapist has faults. I don't forget them easily. He has a ponytail???? How can you take him seriously? You know what's under a ponytail, don't you?

And your husbsand's watch has a bunch of functions? Flush it down the toilet tonight and take him to get a nice watch. Please...

Ok, since you are so kind as to admit all of your therapist's faults I'll admit that mine has a few as well... Now, I have to think hard on this one.

I have one, but I'm not sure that it's appropriate to say. But, I'm pretty sure it's common with most men. I find it rather annoying though. I'm thinking of something else...

I can give you one about my boyfriend that happened last night..Oh, I'm still laughing. He'd kill me if he knew I was repeating this.. We were watching a DVD and it started skipping and he was so mad so he bent over to clean it and I saw his butt crack and started laughing. Now, when he's angry about moving, he gets very annoyed when I start laughing. And when he's annoyed, I laugh even louder. I told him, "Well, I can see your bottom." He said, "I'm going to lay in bed and cry." He cleaned the DVD (without bothering to pull his pants up) and we resumed watching the movie. Oh, it was funny, especially because he was so frustrated.

I just can't think of anything I would want to tell you about Bubba. He blew a bubble while I was in his office last week. But he apologized for it. He always talks about eating at Olive Garden. And he always talks about his kids. That annoys me. He cleans more than his wife and that annoys me (not because I think the wife should clean, but because he doesn't sleep enough). He always moves my coffee because he thinks it's going to fall off the edge. That's annoying. He thinks I get my hair cut when I don't and then when I do get my hair cut, he doesn't even notice, that's typical male though. I can't think of any physical characteristics that bother me though, except one that isn't apporpriate. A lady wouldn't discuss that matter. Now, I'm no lady, but even I wouldn't discuss it.

Your old man isn't a plumber is he? Or a wannabe? Sorry, but the image you presented cracked me up.

One clarification. Bear does not HAVE a ponytail. Perhaps he WISHES for one. What he does is scrape his hair back and hold it together in the back. Kind of like I do with mine just before I put a ponytail holder in it. Only he does not have enough length to really have a pony tail. It's just a buch of hair clumped together in his hands. I really should pay attention to the dynamics in the room the next time I see him do this.

I have a friend/colleague who also sees Bear who actually reported this mannerism to me. I had never noticed it before, but once my evil twin friend mentioned it, then it stood out like crazy. We love to gossip about him. We wonder sometimes if we went in each others' place if he would even notice. Or if we went together. We both saw him at an event on campus once and our other friend was dying to know what he looked like. We were all three giggling and staring at him from the balcony above like junior high girls. Such fun!

That is the gravest fault of all! Beats tucked in sweaters, casio watches and top siders by a million miles!!!

I'm positive Bean only goes to the most wonderful of restaurants and would never subject himself to a chain establishment with neverending soup, salad, and breadsticks.

Ah Bubba is so very young. He lacks the je ne sais quoi of a real man/therapist/daddy.

Drat! I can't stop giggling! (I almost don't want to tell you this....Should I?????) He took his wife there to celebrate some sort of big date for something that I can't quite recall! Oh, the shame!!! Well, at least he doesn't wear a calculator watch! And when he eats his neverending soup, salad and breadsticks, at least his sweater isn't tucked in.... I'm going to ask him if he ever tucks his sweaters into his pants next week.... I really am!

Oh, speaking of fine dining, I ate at this wonderful place in France with a seven course meal. The wonderful selection of cheese. And soups. The meal lasted over two hours and my stomach was in knots, I tell you! The finest dining I've ever been a part of! We should take a trip there together! It was in southern France, I can't recall exactly where (I could ask if you're interested) but the plane was so scary! It looked like it had duct tape on the wings....Speaking of scary plane rides,... I was on a plane ride to Cali once and it got struck by lightening!!! OMG! I swear my heart stopped beating! Like the Twilight Zone! And I went to Paris and landed at the Charles de Gaulle airport on the same day, right after the Concord crashed a few years back. I'm not good to travel with, maybe we should go seperately?? Do you have any crazy traveling stories? I'm full of crazy stories like that...Strange things always happen to me. I wonder why? :)

OH WOW!!! How is she enjoying her stay this far??? How exciting!! Do you miss her :( We were in the (pardon the spelling please, I can barely spell English :) Dordogne Valley and we stayed at the Chateau something or other... My old man can not recall the name... It was wonderful!! The rooms were so beautiful and the landscape was amazing! It was like a small village! If she has a chance to go, I highly recommend it, though I'm not sure of the price or location. It was a gift to my boyfriend and me from his parents.
The restaruant is location in the village. But the area has castles and is in a fairly remote area. I hope I have a chance to return one day...

I think she's having a good time. She's pretty busy so she hasn't written much. Plus she brought the wrong adapter for her laptop, so she's only been able to use the ones at the school (and has no computer with her host family). I sent her the adapter, but I don't think she has it yet.

I forwarded your posts to her - maybe she'll check it out!
