Poet Goes Shopping (long, but amusing)

Posted by Poet on January 21, 2004, at 20:50:58

Poet spent her afternoon shopping online for clothes for her new job. Okay so far.

Poet stops at pharmacy on way home to pick up her meds. At pharmacy Poet remembers she left her wallet on her desk. She drives back to the office.

Forty minutes later she has her much needed meds. Poet decides she should return some clothes she bought at a store because what she got online was better.

Poet stops home to get clothes. Notices husband left mess on stove. Poet cleans off stove, does dishes, but forces herself to stop and go to the store.

She grabs the bag and receipt and heads off. Poet gets to store and realizes she had two things to return. Poet decides to just return this one and come back later. Unusual for Poet, who would have normally (?) gone back home and gotten it.

Side note, Poet hates shopping for clothes, this is why Poet likes to shop online.

Poet returns item, wanders into 70 percent off women's clothing section. Looks through racks, starts mumbling to herself, then starts talking to herself out loud. Poet wonders if they're going to alert security.

She bravely ventures into the fitting room. Poet knows that they're going to call security because now she's laughing out loud.

Poet slithers out of store, and decides to return the other item to a different location. Though, she suspects she's on security red alert at all of them.

Maybe Poet should have posted this on writing babble, giggle.

I went shopping today too! Spent a little bit at Victoria's Secret, but I have to do what I can to pretend like I have something where I don't, you know what I'm saying?? :( Luckily I wasn't talking to myself while looking through the goodies though.
How do you manage to shop online? I'd be afraid the clothes wouldn't fit right. But, I'm pretty picky about things like that. Do you buy from the same source everytime? Well, my weight is constantly changing, so it would be hard for me to estimate. To each her own.

Hi Karen,

I order from http://www.landsend.com

They have the best customer service in the world. No sale is ever final, you can return any purchase, including monogrammed things like towels with no questions.

I'm lucky that Lands'End has outlet stores near me, sometimes I can score really great stuff, really cheap. Though I have been known to laugh out loud in the fitting room.

I have a love/hate relationship with shopping. I get very tired when I do it, because of a) my depression b) my chronic fatigue syndrome c) my foot problems.

I've been shopping online too. My favorite site is Sierra Trading Post:

I've lost enough weight that I fit into pants again. Some of them are even...too big. Hurray!

I ordered an amazing pair of gloves from overstock.com. They are the softest things:

There used to be an Oilily outlet about 45 min. from here. I got some amazing clothes for me and my kids. It closed, sadly.

Maybe I'll take up sewing again.

Third person storys from the first person always amuse me... maybe it's because my "inside thoughts" sound like they are in third person.

So do you think they have your picture up there behind the secuirty desk? I have my picture plastered everywhere- like Dunkin Donuts.... for some reason that place has caught me at my worse (like when I was stealing the Fred the Baker autographed picture from their wall behind the register) wooo boy, that took a lot of explaining :))

Welcome to the I hate shopping club. I'm going to check out both sites as I continue my quest for clothes for work.

Did they offer to get you an autographed photo of Fred? It's the least they can do for a loyal fan.

I think my picture is behind the security desk captioned with "not a shoplifter, just plain crazy, if you need a laugh, follow her around."

Okay, I'm late on this, but I finally have some time to read some threads I missed earlier. I just wanted to join the club. I LOVE shopping online, and in fact just ordered some stuff from Landsend. I absolutely hate trying on clothes. I think it's the nine years of retail from a past life.
