I love him! Those bunny slippers are priceless.
Thanks for inspiring my creativity. Whenever I get
paid, I think I'm off to the craft store to make my
own creations. I'd like to see the dashboard goddess
too. There are people that live around here that funkify
their whole cars like that. One woman drives around with
all these dressed up manikans in her car.

Yes, Crap Circles was my favorite too. I'm forwarding
that link to many friends.

I love the mannikins idea. I've seen in mail order catalogs this car-pool dummy thing. It's basically a lifelike human male, with a 5 oclock shadow and a baseball cap. If I remember right the economy model didn't have any legs. The idea wasn't for fun-- it was to let you drive illegally in the carpool lane. But that would be fun itself.

Roo do you know about the BurningMan festival coming up in a few weeks? It's a whole funkified city in the desert-- everywhere you look some crazy art, constructions, vehicles, costumes, interactive games, etc etc. An incredible feast for the eyes, mind, body, and spirit. Here's the official website... http://www.burningman.com

Don't even think about the new doll parts I've acquired. Now I just need a place to attach them. You know, something for the disembodied hands, legs, and heads to SPRING OUT from.

On the topic of dolls (I'm settling in, see? I'll be ok, I'll be ok...), does anyone remember Growing Up Skipper? Just crank that left arm and pop!
This is me forgiving you two, and I think you knowz whoz youz are.

Thanks for the forgiveness.

Yes! I remember growing up Skipper! Crank the arm and she gained 1/2 inch in height (doll size) plus a couple of cup sizes. I never actually had one myself. I didn't gain the cup sizes in adolescence either. Hmmm... maybe that explains it. She was sort of the goddess of breast development.

At first i thought you were calling me "Skipper"! I thought, "Well that's cute but whuh?"...

>She was sort of the goddess of breast development.

I chuckle. well just look at her big sister!
Last time I was visiting my sister, I was watching tv with my niece, who's 9. Commercials came on and MaryKate said, "I hate Barbie"...I asked her why. She said "She's totally 'disabaproportional' and like, she doesn't even assert herself! She's misarepresentertive'"...my sister has done a good job with her, huh? Ah a budding little feminist. 'At's ma girl.

Barbie unassertive? How can one tell? Oh, I just remembered her facial expression. 'Nuff said.

I still like barbie though. For a while I wondered if buying barbie clothes and accessories would fulfill the basic recreational shopping impulse, but for less money than buying 'real' clothes. Plus she fits into her formal wear without the need for diet and exercise. Somewhere I have the little stash of barbie formal wear from that experiement.

Well she's actually a character now too. like maybe there's a show. But I think "they" are making an effort to give her a career and have her be a good model for the kids.
Now when I was a kid, she pretty much waited for Ken to come from work.
But that purple Corvette...that was so cool. But it was bought with Ken's money, no doubt. And he probably only let her drive it under certain circumstances. Oh hell, she probably wasn't even permitted to get a driver's license...

Did you have that box that served as a wardrobe for her? There was a place for her shoes and all. I lovved the shoes. oh and her boots. Speaking of fulfilling the shopping impulse but for less money...I think it worked the opposite for me!

>Plus she fits into her formal wear without the need for diet and exercise.

Oh you're a holler. And a half.
My friend's mom has a Barbie collection and keeps them IN THEIR BOXES in a special room in the house. She never had a daughter...maybe that's why. Yechhhh. If you're gonna have 'em you should be able to play with them!

If you have any more cool links...please send...
I really like the ones you've sent so far. I love
hearing about the funky art stuff that's out there.
The things I like certainly tend not to be conventional.
I really like Earl Vickers stuff. Printed it out and read
some of it to my boyfriend.

Roo, I just found that link thru random googling. Here's an art car thing..

http://www.artcarfest.com/

A folk art gallery in Austin..

http://www.yarddog.com/

You can google 'outsider art' to find more like that. Another good search is 'sock monkey' or 'garden gnome'. It's tough to find the cool personal art pages.

Oh, here's one from my 'Favorites'
http://www.interestingideas.com/out/sock.htm
if you look at the bottom of that page there are some links to more.

Happy surfing
