I was at work the other day when a long-time patient, a very wealthy man, showed up with his new wife, a woman at least 20 years younger than he is. She was tiny, tan and blond, wearing hot pants and pink high-heel sandals. The diamond on her wedding ring was the biggest rock I've ever seen.
Jeez, what is it with guys?

... these guys would probably know the answers to your questions. What explains the popularity of "Hooters" restaurants? Etcetera, etcetera. These things are ineffable.
Don't get me wrong, women do weird things, too.
But the scene you describe is so common, we've all seen it, it makes people such as you and myself scratch our heads and just wonder a little, doesn't it?

As much as I don't like men who are superficial like that, there are women who are gold-diggers and marry guys like that. I fault them both equally, although I really don't care what they do so long as they don't push me or my children to behave the same.
