Angry/irritable when not fine

Posted by fi on March 28, 2002, at 7:51:26

I find it one of the worst things about feeling a bit low or rattled- I get a short fuse and get stroppy with people. Which can quickly put them off me, and it can take a lot of work to get back their good will. And makes me feel worse too, of course.

I suppose its linked to feeling kind of under seige, being easier to irritate, and not having iron self control to take a step back/ think first etc.

I've been snappy to my boss twice in the last 24 hours. At least now I am working in an office on my own for the rest of the day, so shouldnt do any more harm!

Its also helped me to do a bit of psychobabbling. Tho I suspect part of that is the fun involved in doing something non-work in work time, so obviously still a stroppy streak!

Fi,

Yup...doing the same thing. My boss is out and I'm on the board.

I've noticed that my driving 'manners' go away. I'm much too inhibited to be snappy to people to their faces, but when I'm in the car...I just scream at folks who piss me off. My biggest pet peeve in the car is people who drive way under the speed limit. And I try to not do anything to endanger others (i.e. drive way too fast, cut people off, tailgate, etc.) and I would never, ever say anything to anyone to their face (though sometimes I wish I could!) but I scream at them.

And I can only imagine folks looking at me in their rearview mirrors thinking "Wow...that must be rockin' music she's singing along with..." yeah, right.
