Breathing For Dummies.

Posted by Edwin Ransom on October 25, 2006, at 23:41:06

Hey. Has anyone has success getting their breathing under control?

I'm convinced that bad breathing is behind alot of problems I have. But I haven't been able to get it under control. I've spent the last month doing regular breathing exercises - holding my breath as long as comfortable, then trying to take normal breaths, and, (at other times) trying to slow and lengthen my exhilation while tightening my belly around my tan tien and maintaining good posture.

I've also switched over to pure nasal breathing, keep my shoulders relaxed, and breathe from my abdomin.

I just can't seem to improve the amount of time I can hold my breath comfortably though. Any advice?

Have you read "The HeartMath solution?"

Also breathing through (imagine) the belly (Hara).

Regulated breathing, the in breath takes the same amount of time as the outbreath.

I've had success breathing while focusing on the solar-plexus.

The key is that you are supposed to "be" the breathing not just observing it. You attention should be completely focused on the breathing.

I wrote what I've found out so far here

(I've added nolvas liks at the botto to remind me to read them)
not sure if any help or not

Iwlhelm Reich always had patients start with a strong exhale. If you exhale fully the inhale follows fully. That said, I am still on meds but was just told about a place in nyc "the art of living" center where they teach a technique that i was told helps some depressives and bipolars
will keep you posted

Thanks kiwiredbeach :-)

recovered from CFS that I link to on the post (under CFS) also told me she had trouble breathing too before the B1. She also, no longer has any problems.
We both had difficulties getting enough air in lecture theatres etc.
So maybe it is worth you looking into.
