Wowzers! Ashwagandha is really relaxing!!!

Posted by dreamboat_annie on October 22, 2006, at 20:18:05

Thought I would give Ashwagandha a try. It is an adaptagen and sometimes referred to as Indian Ginseng. It is supposed to strengthen the adrenals, among other things. It is also supposed to be very calming. And, to my surprise, it is!! I took it yesterday late in the day and just before bed and had a good night's sleep. I took it again today, around 5 p.m., and I have been sooooooooooo relaxed. It reminds me of how I used to feel when I would smoke a joint (or two). Just really mellow and calm. I don't think I would take it during the day, though.

Anyway, just thought I would share.

That's good to hear. Glad it's working for you. Can you tell me what brand you are taking? When I tried it I found it to be very stimulating and anxiety producing.

Hi,

I have been using the Nature's Way brand. That's too bad that you found it anxiety producing. For me, it made me feel nice and relaxed, which was the effect I was looking for. Perhaps because it works on the adrenals, it can be stimulating for some people. It's so hard to know how these things are going to affect us until we try them. Although not an herbal, when I had to take Tylenol 3s after surgery one time, I ended up being awake for 24 hours straight after taking 2, 8 hours apart. It was weird.
