Fish Oil Can Kill!

Posted by Arthurgibson on July 16, 2005, at 23:00:13

I have mentioned before on this forum that I have noticed that consuming fish oil gives me serious heart problems. Now a shock new study has linked heart arrhythmia to fish oil. See: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8217222/

Beware. My heart gets into very serious trouble if I take fish oil and now I never touch it. The new study confirms my fears over this matter: Fish oil could kill you.

See: http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2005-06-14-fish-oil_x.htm

Stop taking it Crazy Chick, or you might end up a Dead Chick. You could be making your heart more sick.

At the very least, cut back on your consumption of fish oil.

What you are probably getting is Atrial Fibrillation. This is very, very dangerous.

Does your heart just beat fast, or does it also skip beats, because it is beating so fast? If it does, you probably have AF.

The article does not say this.

The article does not say that fish oil will cause a heart attack or kill you. The study even pointed out the greater statistic showing that fish oil "reduces" the risk of death due to sudden cariac event.

One study does not outweigh the many that show the benefits of fish oil, not only on the heart but the brain too.

I will continue to take my fish oil, it makes me less suicidal.

I have noticed that it can cause the ocatonal palpatition, but that ususally indicates to me that I am taking too much.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions.

Yes, abnormal heart rhyhem can be a symptom of atrial fibrillation, but it can also be a symptom of anxity, and have nothing to do with a heart abormality.

This study noted a patient population that HAD implantable defibrillators. There was also the added possible effect that a brand of those defibrillators was recently recalled. As the article stated, this population of people are HEART patients and I feel that muddies the waters as to pinpointing a cause and effect relationship that is relevant to the population as a whole.

Individuals who have problems that seem to be related to the use of fish oil are unfortunate, but I think one must be careful in looking at these findings - IN ONE STUDY - in a general sense. There are many data findings that point to the use of fish oil as being very beneficial for a number of health problems.

Time may prove different, but for now, I think it's pretty good stuff for most folks.

Atrial Fib is a heart rate over l80 beats a minute. She would faint. The maximum heartrate is 220beats a minute. They it's Code Blue time. Rapid heartrate and skipped beats are usually a sign of anxiety and represent PAC's . Not dangerous of themselves. And I also take fish oil. Don't know if it works but there's no withdrawal. And too much motrin can cause stomach bleeding. But okay for headaches, back aches etc. Fondly, Phillipa
