Hi Bebe,

There are sooo many symptoms of anxiety and like everything else, everyone gets some or all or a combination of those symptoms. Are there any other anxiety symptoms like racing heart or lightheaded?

Supps that I've researched to take for anxiety/nervous system= MAGNESIUM, calcium, b vitamins, potassium and amino acids. These seem to come up everywhere I look for the natural way to help the nervous system. Sounds like you're a fitness gal, you probably know that you still need to be careful of the supplements, too much of a good thing can be bad. And still need to watch out if you take other meds/supps for assimulation and combining. Im about to order a supplement I heard great things about from the pain and stress center, will get contact info posted later. May want to visit bcalmd website for information too. I did read that you dont want to take too much glutamine. Anyways thats not the product I am choosing to supplement with at this time. But its a great informational site for anxiety, depression, add/adhd etc. Hope this helps and thanks for sharing. God bless, Renee

Thanks, Renee. I haven't ever heard of bcalmd. is it a dot com?

There are some good things out now as far as herbal pain relievers go. Now I know that I'm on the wrong board, though. But have you heard of or tried Theramine or Sentra AM/PM? You might have to get them from a doctor or an herbal pharmacy, I'm not sure. They are relatively new. I had just started on Theramine only to find out that I never really had fibro. :-), and that's what it's for. I believe they were all developed by a cardiologist, and they are primarily for fibromyalgia, but they could help with fatigue symptoms, too.

I got myself some Rescue Remedy, Hops, and Valerium root, and I'm taking a little St. John's Wort and SAMe and a full complement of vitamins, AM, PM, and separate cardiovite and Jarrow's Bone-Up, which includes magnesium. I agree about not overdosing on them, though, (she said after listing all 50 that she takes).

It's been raining here like crazy, but I went for a run anyway, and even though I was all stiff when I started, I can't tell you how great I felt after about 10 minutes. A little run, a little yoga or something...anything...seems to help me so much. I think it must have to do with both sweating things out of my system and also with breathing deeply.

Thanks again, have a good, calm, night.

Bebe

I think I found out why I get so darn sedated, drowsy, and foggy while on Effexor. I take ginseng daily and I just stopped for two days and I dont feel as sedated I wonder why.

I'd like to follow this taper. Also, dancing star, I do have chronic pain, but that was a result of traumatic recurrent events. I will make a note of these new alternatives. tks renee and dancing star, cf

Hi NightOwl, thats a good question. I was always afraid to take herbs and other stuff with the Anti-Anxiety med, Effexor because of the lack of studies done regarding possible contradictions etc. Wish I could help on that one, but glad you are doing better without it. Renee

HI Bebe,

Try: www.painstresscenter.com
and
Try: www.adhd-becalmd.com
or http://www.adhd-becalmd.com/?id=34462E

Also, I listen to kgnw, its a christian talk radio here in Washington. Just heard them talking about a product for joints etc, called mega 530 in the amber glass bottle. Check out their website: www.pacifichealthcenter.com

These three sites have been helpful to me in finding those natural alternatives in addition to good info on neurotransmitters, etc. I think the first and third ones are best.

I've been too afraid to take any alternative supps the past 4 years while on effexor and paxil earlier. So now I think my body is ready to go back and recharge naturally since I've managed to get out of "crisis mode" with the help of the anti-anxiety meds. Hope these sites help, let me know. God Bless, Renee

Hey neighbor,

I'm in the Pacific NW too. Thanks for this new thread. I too am interested in going for some alternative treatments to get off the pharmaceuticals which helped me for a while but I believe are creating lots of havoc to my system and I feel far away from normal, whatever that is. With all the new press about the reality of the pharmaceutical companies not really having their customers best interest in mind, I feel rather scared when I feel so weird.

Do you know what the Benedryl is supposed to do while withdrawing?? I guess I can get it over-the-counter?

Another dreary day in the NW!

Can you explain the brain zaps?

Well hello to you to neighbor! I just posted to you about brain zaps on my withdraw thread, so please go there for that. Im way to sensitve to stimulants and cant take the over the counter stuff like benedryl, sudafed, etc. Im not real sure about any other alternative to helping you withdraw from effexor other than what others have suggested, like faith and kara. I've always been a chicken when it came to possible contridictions, even with hebal rememdies. My husband and I want snow so we can go skiing! Darn it! Renee

Well maybe we need to do a snow dance!! I'm with you on missing the snow - saw some pretty sad photos of Snoqualmie with grass pokeing up on the slopes. I'm such a snow lover that I'm sure a snow storm would pull be out of my frump. I haven't gotten to the mts to play for a few years . . .

BACK to the thread - Thanks for the info on the brain zaps etc. If Benedryl is the stuff in cold meds that makes some people drowsey, it does the opposite for me, I just feel sleepy but can't really relax and get to sleep. I have some Calms Forte by Hylands that my naturopath recommended. It seems to help me get to sleep but I wake up after a couple hours.

I'm signing off for today.

This is the end of the thread.
