prozac with remeron?

Posted by rjlockhart37 on December 13, 2015, at 23:45:41

i'm on max dose of prozac but sometimes it works but a added may help, but can you combine fluoxetine with mirtazapine?

and my doctor may not be willing to add that, the prozac at the 80mg has taken away depression and stay in a semi-well mood, but sometimes anxiety and depression creep up and i have to drink coffee or caffeine to keep the effect going

is it safe to mix remeron with fluoxetine at 80mg?

What kind of answer do you need? Would you like to hear only from people who have actually tried the combination treatment? You might not find anyone.

The only feedback I would offer you at this point is that Remeron is sometimes added to high dosages of Effexor. Like Prozac, Effexor is a potent serotonin reuptake inhibitor, so I doubt this property is in conflict with Remeron.

Friends,
Be not deceived. The poster here asks if it is safe to mix these drugs. When you do, the effects can be increased exponentially. This danger by itself could cause death and many of these deaths is by the heart being stopped by the chemicals in what are allowed here to be called "medicines", openly promoted in direct non-compliance with the FDA rules for promoting these drugs, and Mr. Hsiung may be allowed to be exempt from the FDA rules for print advertisements. But so what? You still could be misled to believe that these drugs are safer than they really are and because material facts are left out, you could be deceived into thinking that there are no risks at all by taking these mind-altering chemicals that could cause addiction and death.
The two drugs in question taken together could cause death. This is all because together they could raise chemicals in the brain to toxic levels sometimes called serotonin syndrome that could lead to coma and death.
Lou

yea i read remeron is sedating, but i wouldnt take it during the day, only at night.......

prozac is not sedating, in it's own unique way it's activating but not like a stimulant or wellbutrin, it just enhances the mood for the day......

but i don't know if it would be a good option, that or could ask about trazadone (yet sometimese trazadone is too sedating, and should be used at night) i guess the same with remeron

i'm not sure really if i want to ask about it, because mainly it's my doctor that would be the one to decide, i finally had got the prozac to 80mg because she thought it was too high of dose and would make me feel flat

i've just heard remeron helps with sleep, and depression but if it's too sedating don't know......i've taken zyprexa for 5 years and it was sooooo sedating for the first years and then my body adapted to it, but now if i don't take zyprexa im agitated and have more aniety

Docs even on regular medical floors used a lot of sleeping pills. In psych Konopin was drug of choice of all the benozs at the time not considered habit forming. Why I don't know. I think the abuse potential was considered Lower. As for the sleeping pills google I will have to do. Phillipa

yea klonopin does have less abuse potential, because it eases anxiety but it just.......made me depressed, like a depressed calm, xanax and ativan and the other benzo's seem to produce a pleasant calm, not like getting high but it's like that feeling "everything is ok, stay calm"

klonopin did help my anxiety, but i just .... i rerember taking 2 g twice daily mg during the day for panic atttacks in 2005-07 and it just depressed my my mood

it's a good med for panic attacks in general, and it also a very good for calming amphetamine/methamphetamine crashes, i used to abuse methamphetamine and when that horrible crash wore off feeling drained and could not sleep, agitated, irrtible, in a horrible mood from dopamine depletion..... klonopin would miraculously send me back to earth, and get me to natural sleep..... it acts like a anti-manic in some ways.......

Depressed me also hence why I feel the docs preferred it less potential for abuse at the time. Moving forward many now prefer it to other benzos stronger most likely answer.?

Yup. When antidepressant medication made me manic for the first time, lithium and Klonopin were the only drugs available to use as mood stabilizers. Lithium by itself didn't help much. Adding Klonopin saved me.

Klonopin is known for causing or making worse depression. It did that to me when I tried taking it during a time when I was not manic.

Way back when, at a time when Klonopin was still being studied closely, it was reported by at least one investigation that Klonopin was unique among benzodiazepines with respect to serotonin function via a reduction in release. It also causes an upregulation of serotonin receptors sites, presumably due to the release inhibition. Interestingly, lithium also inhibits serotonin release.

I can taper Ativan, Restoril, and Halcion without suffering too much. However, I found Klonopin to be hell to discontinue.

I used remeron with prozac for over a year. It is a common ad-on to ssris. I used it for sleep and anxiety, but honestly it was only good for a few weeks and then it poops out.

The best antianxiety, I discovered later, is at subtherapeutic doses, such as 3mg-7.5mg. Which involves cutting or crushing your pills and making custom sized doses.

thanks phillipa, SLS, bleauberry, i like the infomation you said......

klonopin yes is less abuse potential, it's street value is low, many drug abusers on the street prefer xanax, and i don't want to give xanax a bad reputation because is VERY effective for paniac attacks, and depression in someways......

klonopin i rerember i took after amphetamine wore off, repeated doses of amphetamine/methamphamine reduce dopamine over time and can cause strain and stress on the brain, klonopin is vary good for this after the drug has worn off, it provides sleep and relief

but klonopin by it's self everyday used for anxiety, it does produce depression (in some people)

it's intresting how it does upgrade serotonin, maybe it works diffrent on other people, but it made me sedated, anxiety free, but also depressed
