Hi,
I take 17.5 mg of Zyprexa and 5 mg of valium at night.
I have OCD but do not want to take anafronil or a SSRI due to the side effects.
Are there any other options for treating the OCD?
I am looking forward to a new medication called Skylyte.
thanks

18 grams of Inositol a day. Very effective. It cut out my compulsions.

SLS,
Do you have to take Glycine in the incredibly high dose of 60 grams for OCD or is there evidence it can help OCD at a lower dose? Magnesium Glycinate helped tremendously for a few days but then began to depress me. Tried other forms of Magnesium which depressed me too so I am thinking that perhaps the "glycinate" aspect of the Magnesium could be the component that helped?

Fiat 500-
Is there any reason to think 500 mg of Inositol (1 tablet) before bed would help improve sleep and reduce OCD?
This is much less than 18 grams, but several years ago I took one 750 mg tablet and got sleepy.
thanks

Minocycline has been used experimentally to treat OCD. I don't know how effective it is.

How long did you take minocycline for?
I have been taking 200 mg/day for over a year. No dizziness.

I wrote a week. That was long enough. I was supposed to be on doxcylline anyway but at the time not producing it. Plus it seems you take very high doses of meds that others don't seem to be able to. My doc had warned me and I heeded it and went on topical antibiotis Phillipa

Minocycline is currently being studied for OCD. This has nothing to do with antibiotics or topical preparations.

Apparently 6-12 grams is minimum for panic attacks and depression. I started to feel benefits only at 18 grams. Don't mean to be a buzzkill but I don't think 500 mgs will cut it.

SSRIs are really the best way to treat OCD. A couple of options may interest you: Vyibriid an SSRI with 5ht1a agonizing properties. Vybriid has little in the way of side effects, including sexual side effects. Miirtazapine is another option. It is a tetracyclic AD and does not have many of the side effects SSRIs have.
If you don't want to do an antidepresent, there are a bunch of other options, but I find they don't work as well without and AD on board:
Rilutek
Mementine
Keppra
Ondensetron
TramadolEric
