I take a small dose (.125mg) at night. By the next afternoon I am feeling awful.
My other idea is that there is an interdose rebound effect, the way someone would experience interdose anxiety on Xanax, say.
Can/does this happen? It does have a short half life, yes?Still to figure this out....

I have a call out to my provider asking about the above.
The sense of akathisia, the afternoon irritability, the interdose thing.
Also how long he, in theory, sees this as a maintenance medication.
So, hopefully, by 7:00 pm some more info.
I don't think to ask or say certain things during visits. Gotta work on that.

The half-life of the active metabolite of risperidone, 9-hydroxy-risperidone, is about 24 hours.It is likely that you are taking too little risperidone to last 24 hours. I believe you should at least run a trial of an increased dosage of risperidone. 0.5mg is a common dosage when used for non-psychotic conditions. Perhaps you can split the dosage and take 0.25mg twice a day.

I'd agree, try increasing to 0.25 twice a day and see how that helps things, and if needed, go upto 0.5mg twice a day.

Hey Zyprexa,
He bypassed the interdose idea but suggested twice a day dosing, say before bed and maybe in the afternoon when the crankies begin. Or withdraw for now.
I decided to withdraw for now and see what the Emsam does on it's own first. Plus the day before and yesterday I had some kind of a rash on my upper chest, upper abdomen, maybe at the upper joints. No big deal, but unusual for me
. So dropping out simplifies things bit.I am struggling with anxiety more than before, so will likely miss my nightly dose, but did alright without last night..
Is Zyprexa is similarly short acting?

Zyprexa is once a day, has 24-48 hour half life. I forget what it is for risperdal, but I think its like 7 hours. which is not long, so you have to take it twice a day. Acording to the internet its 3-20 hours.
