still putting things together

Posted by floatingbridge on January 2, 2010, at 15:10:04

O.K. So I'm still freaking out.

The pieces:

Magic taste of remission w/ dexedrine, not exceeding 60mg per day. (Still need Xanax or klonopin because anxiety. Had it before Dex anyways.)

However, I feel my overall health is deteriorating. Maybe CFS or fibromyalgia. (Afraid--how can I raise a small child.)

Those who know me know I havhashimoto's. I've been reading about
HPA axis dysregulation. Fits a life-long pattern. After much reflection and observation, I think the
'root' of my depression (besides maladaptive behavior and cognition) is
hypervigilant anxiety.

I know that many of you who might be
reading have gone through tons--more than I have to date.

Concerned that undertreatmemt or mistreatment, maybe relying on pysch meds to fix all has contributed to my decline.

I guess I'm not asking for fix-it advice. Has anyone recovered their health, really?

I see a pdoc this month who has researched hpa dysregulation on women

Anyone interested, It'll let you know what I find out.

I think, in addition, I'll be getting food sensitivity blood tests. Decided to tackle diet first.

Comments, experience welcome and most appreciated.

Reading these boards the past nine months or so has helped me tremendously. Thank you all--those reading and those not.

Thanks!

I'm definitely interested so please keep us posted. I think it's great you found a specialist. I hope s/he's able to shed some light on what's going on. I've seen people mention the HPA axis before, and it sounds so mysterious, I'm afraid it would be over my head if I tried to research it. Do you have any good resources to share?

I'm also really interested in learning more about the food sensitivity tests you're taking. What kind of doctor ordered them for you and are they covered by insurance?

I went through a phase where I thought I had CFS. It lasted for about a year. You should treat your condition as depression, because they're no cure for CFS anyway. I turned out to get much better on antidepressants.

There is a lot of misleading information on the internet. Just be careful. If it's not part of mainstream medicine, treat it with extreme suspicion.

It sounds like your depression may be leading you toward what they call mood-congruent delusions. Don't give up on psychiatry.

Probably not worth it.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I went through the same thing.

Hey,
Sorry you don't feel well. Don't give up! Perhaps this new doctor can shed some light on your condition. Keep us posted, I'm pretty intrigued about HPA dysregulation. Good luck!
