Wow what a confusing choice. As phillipa mentioned these two drugs could NOT be any MORE different.

Ill try to make it simple,Parnate is like a nuclear bomb for depression, its an anti depressant with the sole aim to elevate mood.

Lamictal is a mood stablizer, which has no similarties in any way to parnate.Lamicatal is used to balance a swinging mood,to keep a mood stable and steady,it might have some anti depresannt properties but compared to parnate its like comparing lamicatl as a kitten to parnate a lion.

What confuses me is your on seraquel which is already filling in that space that lamicatl seeks, which is to prove some stablity,so to have you on two drugs why have similiar goals in way of action....and discard adding the one that will provide a second comtply distinct action is very odd.

its kinda like giving two baseball players two types of different bats, and not a ball, two bats wont provide a game where as the ball with have, lol and sorry for that off the wall analogy i just thought of it as i was writing.

Yeah, I agree that you should go with parnate (if you are dealing with depression).

Lamictal is *not* an antidepressant. Some people notice some degree of mood elevation / antidepressant effect with lamictal, but I would not comapre it with parnate.

You've been on Parnate before haven't you? And it worked? I would go with the Parnate.

Actually, she could take both at the same time and that'd be even better for whatever problem (depression, most likely) she has.

Isn't Lamictal an augmentor/mood stabilizer for an MAOI?

My doctor was considering adding Lithium/Lamictal or Abilify to my 80mgs of Parnate. And he will end up doing that if my current cocktail (Parnate + Adderall + Nortriptyline) don't work as expected.

So instead of "Parnate OR Lamictal" you should go with "Parnate AND Lamictal."
(provided you need a mood stabilizer or/and an augmentor for the MAOI)

Tis true, most mood stablizers act similiar and some way and most do not have any known interaction with parnate. So taking both is as you said a common combination.

What there is to be concerned about ,and only if im correct here,is wheter or not lamictal is a sulphur med,if it is it is very serious to know if you have allergic reactions to these meds,as results from taking them whille allergic range from minor rashes to the extreme of a case i read where a girl actual had 3rd degree burn inside her body. Not to scare ya but just make sure if u go the lamictal route and i am correct of it being a sulphar med that you mention this to the doc,if hes a good doc hell bring it up.much luck!
