Fear

Posted by Phillipa on August 13, 2009, at 12:31:09

Something bad is going to happen I just feel it. And don't know what to do. No docs to call no friends, no one not even husband. And I don't know what? Anyone ever feel this and what did you do. I feel like freaking out right now. And am I guess. Inside says run but immobalized with fear. Thoughts flipping around in circles. I'm terrified. Just had to write it probably wrong board but no one is here anyway. Phillipa

you have just had a lot of exitement , with the baby now your on meltdown , the exitement subsides so you start to worry ,its normal how long is it since you got a high like that with the baby.

Maybe a panic attack. Can you lay down and have a bit of quiet time. Can you take sometime to calm yourself?

Phillipa, just wrote you.

What are you thoughts circling around? Not the fear, but the object of the fear?

fb

I think Maniac makes sense. What can you do to get comfortable?

Do yourself a favor and take a long break from babble. You are on here 24/7 responding to just about every post. Redirect your energy and anxieties with a change of scenery, new activities and hobbies. In other words, take a mental health break from "mental health."

Be well

Excuse me? This is an outlet for me. Later my physical outlet with excercise and then posting our ebay business. I didn't find this comment helpful. If a person has nothing positive to contribute they why? We didn't treat our patients this way we listened. I hear nursing is getting bad. Phillipa I do hope I'm being civil. As I enjoy helping others and sometimes I also need help. I just delivered my granddauther or assisted and it was rather stressful as the others know.

Fear let's see all of these and others: when in the delivery room recognized I could no longer nurse and it was my life my identity. I wanted things to go faster like you can hasten a birth. Then in ob seeing nurses still working my age and knowing I no longer have the patience to do this, knowing I'd have to go back to school to work and then med surg for a month full time with bad back, then a month full time of psych before I could work parttime. And at age 63 doesn't make sense. I need to accept and I so far cant. Then feeling numb with the baby, then knowing the father was as worried as me cause Daughter has a large unruly dog who she feels will love the baby, and how to protect that baby, with a Daughter that goes from hot to cold, spending money I didn't have when saw the baby didn't nearly have in the apartment what she needs so bought it, knowing she didn't sign the birth certificate with the father's name and he's wonderful. I fear that a baby's wellbeing is at stake. And when the bomb falls as usual it will be my fault. Those are just a few of the fears. Now I have to work at gotta got money some how. Thanks for listening. I'm venting the same way others do here. Oh did I forget the endo can't regulate my thyroid and I'm taking hormones that didnt work another letdown. And my pdoc has been out of work for six months from a car accident. Would you have some fears? And then the medicaire one. Thanks. Phillipa

I know this may sound trite, but worrying won't solve anything. Things will fall in place and you will soon be enjoying time with your grandchild and daughter. Us mothers worry too much. I try to learn from my husband who never worries unnecessarily; meaning he actually waits for the sh... to hit the fan and then he freaks out. Have faith in you daughter making the right decisions about the baby and if she makes a mistake then you can intervene when you feel better. But really we are not of much use to our children when we are not feeling well. Take some time, have lots of faith and keep us posted as always.

Phillipa,
I just read your post. When you feel like this can you take an extra dose of a benzo. It does sound like you are having a panic attack and I think an emergency dose of a benzo and lying down or whatever seems most calming is the thing to do. I know you live with a lot of fear all the time but it sounds like this has been an especially hard time. I didn't know you'd just had a grandchild but I do know you take a lot onto yourself. It sounds as if you have some real reasons to be worried but it also sounds like you need to find some ways to distance yourself, if you can, and let others pick up some of the weight of responsibility you are feeling.
I hope you are feeling more settled.
Try to take care of yourself.
Zana

"If a person has nothing positive to contribute they why?"

I agree wholeheartidly, maybe this is good advice for everyone.
