Percocet, Motrin, Luvox and valium and keflex

Posted by Phillipa on February 24, 2008, at 16:12:41

Just had major surgery and on low dose percoet l and a half at night but the doc wants me on motrin round the clock and of course the antibiotic. Just checked med checker and seems luvox interracts with percocet. taking 50mg of percocet. And so tired can't wake up but pain is horrible. Back to hospital yesterday as some stitches came out and bleeding. Think this combo is okay or dangerous. Thanks Phillipa

Odds are, you would be just fine with the percocet and luvox.

I would call your pharmacist to check however.

Seldom.

Thank you for the prompt reponse know the doc knew about the motrin and percocet but a plastics guy doesn't know a med like luvox. Six stitches out yesterday had to be restitched and all the prune juie, colace, magnesium pills and this binder are definitely slowing up the works. Love Phillipa

The only drug-drug intereaction I see listed in my nursing drug book is Luvox and benzodiazepines, so I guess you shouln't be on Valium...remember alot of the listed meds are guides, not hard and fast. It says there may be a reduction in the clearnce of these drugs.

Uh oh, upon reading a bit more...it says use together cautiously, except for diazepam, which shouldn't be used with fluvoxamine. So has your doc ever said this to you?

Nothin about Luvox and Pecoset..both are so low dose that interactions shouldn't be an issue for anything you are taking with Luvox, so as you can see many intereactions are not heeded anyway so unless you are having a reaction, which you would have had by now, I wouldn'tbe too worried about Luvox with Percoset or with Valium.

You would have more problems by stopping the valium, it is such a part of your biological makeup.

All things considered, dose and duration of use of the ibuprofen/oxycodone, the interactions are not of any significance. If anything, you'll find the Motrin and Percocet to be modestly more effective than you might if not on the Luvox. You're already adapted to the Luvox/Valium combo, so that modest interaction is also of no importance.

I hope you feel better soon. I know I'd not be back online just after having surgery like you had.

Oops I reread what I wrote and it's 50mg of luvox I'm on motrin every six hours and percocet 2 and a half pills a day. Man if on 50mg of percocet I wouldn't be standing. I only do my 40 steps of walking check the board and then back to lying down. Feel like I should be doing more. Pain pump is lidocaine almost gone now. I just can't stomach looking at the wounds on me. On someone else no problem. So again I've learned more empathy. Another lesson in life. Thanks Lar for posting. Love Phillipa

Stargazer you're right and how was today? Thought of you all day seriously. Love Phillipa ps supposed to add 5mg more of valium tomorrow for a muscle relaxant but probably won't.

Best wishes too... no I think the benefits of those agents for surgery far outweigh any minor risks.

As for Valium and Luvox, the dosage that you're on is not really that much of a worry (I know, 3A4).

I am on a much different exact combination of the two and my doctor commented that the 3A4 may not actually really be the highest of an issue anyhow. But then I am a rapid metabolizer.

As they say your miles may vary.

Now I understand why you wanted to hear from me, I will get to it or you can babblemail me too, since I assume you have to check this to get it anyhow. Get better, it should hopefully not be a long recovery process.

Never had swelling before. Lots of laxatives and pain pump out now pulled it out empty and drain tubes bleeding now so best do what supposted to do take care will check tomorrow. Love Phllipa ps added back in the motrin and upped percocet by half a pill so now 2.5 pills of percocet generic 7.5/325. Last night pain excruciating. For anyone over 40 and considereing this do it now don't wait. My neice wants one had 3 C-sections and said the docs should have to go through it. Don't worry about eyes and stuff like that a piece of cake. No pain. Love Phillipa
