Hi all! I used to post here quite a while ago and now I am back. I have been on (almost) every med you can think of for depression/anxiety since my teens (I am 50) but have a definite fondness and knowledge of MAOI's. In fact, they are the only ones to ever really work fully for me. If you have any questions about them I will do my best to help answer you.

Whats your opinion on Marplan? I'm liking it very much at the mo, along with Klonopin & Wellbutrin. Think it can last longer than Nardil? (which is what I'm hoping!) And whats you're fave?

Could you explain why you stopped Nardil and how Marplan is different from Nardil (and from Parnate, if you've been on that). Marplan seems like the bastard step-child of the MAOI family; I don't here much about it.

My Marplan is an excellent med, and I believe keeps getting better. On its own its AD effects are beyond Nardil's IMO but it lacks the anxiolytic part. But I almost feel like I'm on Nardil at the moment, as I'm taking Wellbutrin + Klonopin with it too :)teck

How much are you taking now? I'm on 30 because 40 was making me lightheaded. I also added Deplin one month ago but it hasn't done anything. I'm debating if I should try it for one more month or quit and save the $41.

Sorry its not doing what you hoped for. I think Deplin would have worked by now if it was going to.
I'm taking 50mg Marplan and am doing good. Of course I also take 3mg Klonopin & 300mg Wellbutrin too. I also take 25mg of 5-HTP every 3 days or so - gives it one hell of a powerfull kick!
Is it Deplin you're thinking of quitting or Marplan?
I think that maybe what could help with the lightheadedness is to add something normally contraindicated with MAOIs, like Wellbutrin or a tricyclic (no serotonergic meds!). Even a very small dose of amphetamine. Just enough of something to get you're blood pressure back up. Then you can take the Marplan right up to 60mg if need be, with carefull monitoring of your BP. Would be a shame to quit without trying the higher doses - like I've said before, if you dont inhibit enough MAO then an MAOI wont work.teck.

Hi Brooklyn. I've just weaned myself off all SSRIS nad started on Emsam 6mg patch. I did not feel any differently mood wise. My patch was increased to 9mg, I noticed that I became quite anxious. I had been reading all the horrific side effects if certain foods and medications are taken. The anxiety may have been from my ruminative thoughts? Anyway, I hope you can give reassurance that diet can be maintained. Also I have a terrible cold and cough, any overcounter medications that won't interfere with Emsam?
