What happens when someone's depression requires a dopaminergic medication(stimulant) and then they also have psychosis which requires a dopamine antagonist...wouldnt the dopamine antagonist block the stimulant ?

You dont give stimulants to people with psychosis. Its pretty much that simple.
But to your theoretical question that answer is yes.

Apparently you can combine Neuroleptics with stimulants to take the "Edge" of the stilant.
Never tried it though, not sure its a good idea!

As noted by others, I believe that I've read that stimulants would worsen psychosis... and I think is supposed to be quite dangerous. One thought might be abilify, which is both a partial agonist and an antagonist for Dopamine receptors...
Or possibly amisulpride/sulpride which are used at lower doses for the negative symptoms, and higher doses for the positive symptoms of psychosis...
However, this is pure speculation on my part, and I'm not a doctor...

I have known someone with a psychotic disorder who was on Stelazine and Adderall with no worsening of psychosis.

Oh, I agree with you that psychostimulants certainly CAN worsen psychosis. I just think that their reputation for doing so is overblown, and often comes from observation of those taking way too much.
10-60mg/day of d-amphetamine is unlikely to precipitate psychosis in someone who's already stabilized, IMHO. That's not to say it won't happen; there are people who have a psychotic break every time they smoke pot, for instance. It's one of those idiosyncratic things with no hard-and-fast rule.

Stelazine is a horrible drug, i was given some by a girl who was scripted 20mgs daily!!-poor soul, if i took 10mgs, i was like Michael J Fox, i couldn't keep still, it felt horrible.I would guess that it would probably override Adderalls effects at over 5mgs.

I was given chlorpromazine, then pericyazine and then Stelazine years ago. Dreadful - they all gave me akathisia. Do you think it's possible that the akathisia I still often get is a non-reversible side effect or is it due to Effexor? Mine was for anxiety. Same for my brother-in-law and worryingly, he's on Stelazine, which makes him chew his tongue. He's in the UK where they have a ludicrous attitude to benzos Fred

It is more likely due to effexor, but could be both.
No one should take Stelazine (or any antipsychotics, atypical or otherwise) unless everything else fails, IMHO. D2 blockade is not a "good thing".

They're big doses of Stellazine.
Well, anything is.
