med mixing

HI, I'm new to this group. I'm not currently on any meds due to the pressure of my family and its so hard to take time off work to see docs. I'm feeling so crazy and depressed this week due to changes in life, (normal changes, but change sends me into a spin) and I tool 3 Klonopin 3 sleepig pills and alcohol. Not enough to kill myself I know, but it is something I can continue to do??? and I have a cofession to tell that I can't tell anyone else. WE have a friend on our couch for the week who we took home from the psych ward in the hosptial, all his drugs just sitting on the coffee table and since my pdoc won't give me more without a appt, which I don't have time for, I feel terrible, but I took 4 of us, he can get more no problem. Another thing to hit myself of the head with. I'm prolly just be really sleepy right? I can't find an online poison control here. any advice? sorry to dump as I am a newbie, but I feel so desperate. thank you.

3 klonopins and a little booze wont kill you (but you didnt say how much you drank). Its dangerous to mix benzos and booze and can cause respiratory depression or worse.

You need to be more specific, how much alcohol? What type of sleeping pills?

downing some klon and sleeping pills with alcohol seems to me to indicate there is something serious
going on here.

Benzos and alchohol I not be too worried about but you say you took sleeping pills too? Doesn't sound good to me . You need to call the ER or a crisis line and find out the scoop. Oh and welcome to babble. Love Phillipa

Yes, the combination of the three would not be the best and would further the possibility of respiratory depression which is an ER situation, not a home remedy fix.

Benzodiazepines and alcohol are not the best mixture, but it depends on how much benzodiazepines and how much alcohol. The alcohol potentiates, doubles, triples the effect of the benzodiazepine, especially if you've never taken benzodiazepines before and are not used to them.

Respiratory depression rarely happens on benzodiazepines alone, unlike barbiturates, but its best to be used to a particular dosing regime before returning to the occasional drink because it can be an issue, and being in the ER on IVs, flumazenil, and heroic rescue efforts are not a situation I want to see anyone on.
