None Fatiguing drug for anxiety?

Posted by Tom Twilight on August 23, 2006, at 13:19:59

Is there such a thing as a None sedating drug for anxiety?

The closest I've come is Bromazepam, but I'd rather not take a Benzo long term.

I love Nardil, but it tires me out.

Any thoughts?

Red wine?!??!?!?!?!

Sorry that wasn't helpful at all I know. But its all I have....

Plus alcohol is actually sedating above a glass or two.

I would love there to be a non-fatiguing drug for anxiety.

I swing - 'stimulants' (prozac, wellbutrin, rhodiola etc) give me anxiety but much needed energy and 'sedating' (SJW, celexa, etc) which provide relief from anxiety but I sleep too much and have no energy.

Sigh.

Kind regards

Meri

well other than alternative methods, what about Buspar? I haven't taken it myself, but I heard that it works slowly over time.

I would have thought cocaine could be
used by doctors under supervision, but
I think it's illegal even under medical
policy.

Yeah, it was the best I've ever taken for anxiety, the only thing that didn't leave me foggy and half asleep. (But it increased my depression. If not for that, I'd still be on it.)

It's worth trying, though, since it really doesn't cause drowsiness.

Great news that the Nardil is helping. When I was on Nardil, I started to add a stimulant (Dexedrine) to help boost the effect of the Nardil. I found that the Dexedrine, in addition to boosting the Nardil, worked great for anxiety. Things just wern't such a monumental stress anymore. It allowed me to live in the moment and I stopped worrying and started living. So it is possible for a stimulant to be calming, but living in the UK may make this option an impractical proposition. Good luck bud :-)

Matt your OK

Did you get my email?

I was worried about you

Sadly theres absolutely no chance of adding a stimulent to Nardil in the UK!

Just geting a stim prescribed is very difficult

High dose Lyrica (300-600mg) is activating and is for many people better than any Benzo. Low dose are sedating and less good for anxiety than high dose.

Do you think Lyrica has antidepressant properties at 300mg?

I have a prescription for Lyrica at 75mg to start with. I may not be able to have it covered by insurance, though.

Hi Scott --

I think that it has a 300mg for me. But my guess is that I'll get tolerent to this dose and then I'll jump to 450, 600. I'm ready to go has high as 1200mg if needed. You shouldn't try higher dose than what you need/want to take since when you come back to your normal dose it seems to work less well.

75mg will not stimulate you and will not give you a real idea of how you would feel at 300+mg

YMMV,
Marty
