imipramine

Anyone have any luck with low dose imipramine for ADD. Second question, how about experiences with regular doses for depression?

Thanks!

ummm...imipramine really didn't help my ADD. It was OK for depression, though. TCA dosages vary wildly--for outpatients, I think you can safely do 75-200something mgs/day of Tofranil...more than that and you really should be under close care to make sure nothing terrible happens.

Amen. I was given imipramine several years ago for panic disorder and I thought I was going absolutely nuts for several days-overwhelming anxiety and depression. Not a good med for the doc to say "take this-seeya".

Hi.

Imipramine helped me tremendously back in the 80's when I first started ADs. Iwas taking 150mg. (50mg 3 times a day). It truly changed my life. Side effects were pretty bad so when Prozac came out I was switched.

Now the bad news. I tried imipramine again a few months ago and couldn't even tolerate 25mg a day because of side effects.

I do still believe it is a very effective AD, if you can tolerate the dry mouth, postural hypotension, etc. that come with it.

Best of luck.

Marsha
