I need an antidepressant, although I havent been able to tolerate any SSRI's in the past......BUT, I am struggling terribly.....I also have terrible anxiety, and am taking ativan for that, have for years, and ambien to sleep.....my problem is I fear bad side effects, and ALSO, cannot gain weight.....I have a thryroid condition, and need to lose over a hundred pounds already and am terrified to gain more weight.....I cannot risk my health with more gaining.....I need help so bad and feel so lost and have no idea what might be a good choice. Topamax was ruled out, because I have had a kidney stone, and she thought it could cause more.....????? any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi,
How about Wellbutrin? It is a good antidepressant, is "weight neutral", and will also help you quit smoking if you smoke. I take it and like it.Tam

Good idea-Wellbutrin is in/being considered for clincial trials as a medication to lose weight.

Also if ativan is working well for u,u might just need to add a stimulant a mild one to counter balance the depression.
Modfanil is a recomended choice to use vivo a benzo.
I cant personaly recomend any amphetamines as i dont believe they are safe (not in a postion to argue this lol,just my opinon)
Also if ur in the mild stages liquid deprenyl found worked well with benzos.
Other than that unfortunatly i believe mostly u have wellbutrin,maois,and tcas
