The cipro insert states (in bold no less):
"Avoid large amounts of caffeine-containing foods and beverages, such as coffee, tea, cocoa, cola drinks, and chocolate, while taking this medicine as the effects of the caffeine may be increased"
Guess I pretty much dismissed that when I washed down the first dose with a double expresso!
;0I'm really not concerned cuz I've never had problems w/ cipro before, even with caffeine.
Anyhow, just wondering if there's any validity to this claim or why it's stated. Might anyone know the reason for this caution?
Peace out

Caffiene has the tendency to decrease the rate of intestinal absorbancy in a hand full of drugs. Cipro and Lithium are things we normally see.
I would think twice before you guzzle a double expresso. The caffiene will also make you run to the bathroom quite often on Cipro. Yeah, it can kill anything in your system, but you don't want a lesser amount in your body, plus the bathroom sucks!
Good Luck

I believe luvox has the opposite interraction with caffeine. One cup of coffee is equal to five or six and it potentiates the effects of valium too. Love Phillipa
