How real sounding are these voices? Do they sound like regular voices? Is it a male or female voice? What exactly do they say?

If you have schizophrenia you would say that these voices sound real, like regular voices, and that they are male or female or both, and that they say specific things such as negative comments about yourself.

It does sound like you may have OCD instead, to me. Usually, though, people with OCD don't call their thoughts voices.

You also call your voices "thoughts." Are they thoughts or real voices? People with schizophrenia do not experience "thoughts", they hear voices, no different from what might be on the radio.

Do you have any other symptoms of schizophrenia? Usually people with schizophrenia have many symptoms.

Right.

This is different from having intrusive thoughts. Intrusive thoughts do not sound like real voices as if someone were standing next to you talking in your ear. Intrusive thoughts are more like an unwanted talking to yourself silently. They can be a symptom of depression with or without OCPD (obsessive-compulsive personality disorder).

After reading these posts, what do you think?

Sorry.

I meant OCD.

Intrusive thoughts can be a symptom of depression with or without OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder). Sometimes the same drug can treat both conditions.

its an inside voice. it tells me to crack my son neck. when i first had those thoughts everytime i got close to him it was like i was anxious to that. then another voice would say no do not hurt him. there is no particular male or female thought. when i was younger there was a inside voice saying you are going to die and i would put it off and say no im not going to die. i know everyone will die but that voice would say you are going to die now. its just a repeating voice saying crack your son neck.

That sounds like the intusive thoughts that can be part of a severe depression. However, I am not a doctor, and you really do need to be evaluated formally by a professional psychiatrist. I do think you can be effectively treated and have these thoughts brought under control or disappear completely.

When will you be getting yourself to a psychiatrist to get treated?
