high vigilence - after trama

Posted by rjlockhart98 on September 7, 2005, at 20:53:11

I have been going through periods of strange, wierd time periods usally around 7:00 at night, a feeling of alertness, urgence to keep alert feeling that thoughts may lose control. Very high alertness, it is triggered i dont know by what.

This started with insomnia and shock that i cannot go to sleep it was tramatizing. When i was on adderall.

this feeling of "off balance" which does trigger this state, it almost becomes full emergency mode. A feeling almost that i feel, i dont know, strangeness, disconnection. I go into adrenaline mode when this happens becuase its a signal that I have to stay alert and with reality. Its almost stimulanting as amphetamine.

What is happening to me? i dont know if this is dissociation.

There is ALOT going through life right now, i almost think that i cant hold on.

I am taking Dexedrine 20mg, Klonopin 4mg, Zyprexa 2.5mg

I dont know if i should move up on the Zyprexa.

Please respond anything.

Matt

Hi Matt, you've been going through a really tough time with a lot of changes. Increased responsibility, school, your grandmother, family problems. It isn't a wonder that you would feel this way . And I see you've stopped the prozac. You are strong you've proved it. All I can do is lend a helping hand and reach out to you with strength to help you through this time. But you've made it through rougher times, so I'm convinced you'll make it this time too. fondly, Phillipa

Hi Matt,
I don't know how much help I can be, but just a question or two. What is your diagnosis? The reason I ask is there is not an antidepressant in your cocktail of medications. From reading your posts, with the suicidal feelings, it sounds like you should be on a strong antidepressant or even explore ECT as the fastest way to kick your system back to normal. Please keep nothing around that could lead to suicide, especially firearms. An old cliche goes, "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem". Please believe me, the situation is temporary. Before Nardil kicked in for me during my first major depression, I really thought I was going to die. When the med kicked in, all of those problems that seemed insurmountable, suddenly became manageable. Stick it out, change your meds, get ECT, do whatever you have to to stay alive until this thing passes.
Best of Luck,
Jedi

You're so right, matt! I'm glad you thought of this and that it helps at times. Keep it up!

best regards,
