I started taking Effexor in May of 2004. Got a lot of energy from it, more so than the Zoloft I took for several months in 2000. I lost almost 30 lbs. that I needed to lose post-partum. Worked my way up to 225mg, but it didn't seem to do any more for me than 150mg. Depression was pretty much gone, but anxiety persisted. When Cymbalta came out, I switched off to it and added Klonopin. Complained to my doc that I had absolutely NO MOTIVATION on Cymbalta, so went back to Effexor 75mg and added 300mg Wellbutrin. I think I can get off the Wellbutrin soon and maybe go back to 150mg or 225mg of Effexor. Effexor helps me tremendously with my chronic sciatic and joint pain. The Klonopin seems to take care of the anxiety. I probably should have just added the Klonopin to the a 150mg or 225mg of Effexor and skipped the trials with Cymbalta and Wellbutrin. I will be seeing my doctor soon!

>I was on Zoloft 250 mg for several years. My doc switched me to Effexor XR 37.5 mg because the Zoloft just wasnt working anymore. A week later the dose was increased to 75 mg. The first few weeks I hated it. I could not think and was always angry. It was so hard to work. If I was not angry I was depressed and just wanted to be left alone. I have dreams every night and I just cant explain them. They seem so real. Anyway, it has been 4 weeks now and feel better but I still keep to myself and I still have the dreams. Should I ask my doc if the dose could be increased or should I just give it more time. I can deal with the dreams but I just want to feel happy again.--vines123456
