Does anyone know if you can double Adderall XR 20mg? The 20mg isn't doing anything anymore, and I am wondering if adding 10mg would do anything vs. adding 20mg. Just a thought, because I won't do anything until the doctor gives his okay anyway. I just want to know what everyone thinks about this. I couln't find much looking back through old posts. -L

So did you stop the Concerta and make the switch to Adderall XR? I'm waiting as I post this for a call back from my doc and don't know whether I should ask him for an increase on Concerta or try Adderall XR. Have you found the Adderall XR to lose effectiveness faster than Concerta?

No, I have not switched yet, just getting opinions from everyone. I am due to go back for my next doctor visist, and I really don't know if 40mg of Adderall or 32mg of Concerta?Which medication do you feel helps you to concentrate, and keep your train of thought best?

> -LWell, my doc just called and he would rather bump up my Concerta than try Adderall XR now. He doesn't like Adderall XR, probably just for safety issues since they pulled it in Canada etc.
I've never tried any other stim before so I can't compare, that's why I'm hounding you! Did you ever take two 18mg Concerta to see how you react? I pick up a prescription tomorrow and I don't know if it will be for 27mg or 36mg.

So I saw my doctor today. He's US renound too by the way. He said get a good psychotherapist and he recommended 3. Then he said take as much adderall and ativan or clonazepam as you feel you need so long as it doesn't cause side effects (in addition to my pinch of zoloft). He said most people find a place where tolerance goes away and they stabilize. And if not he'll get me off the meds whether its inpatient or outpatient. And we can try something new.
What do you think?

You are asking me what I think? That's hillarious! I'm a 43yr old, 125 lb. blonde! That's why I'm asking YOU!!! I'm laughing my head off right now!
I did double the concerta for several days (18mg) and it seemed just fine, I didn't notice too much of a difference. Maybe more energy, if that. I just need to be able to stay on task, and keep my head about myself! I am doing that tomorrow again, because 18mg isn't doing anything, compared to 20mg of Adderall. (I took one today) Doctors don't like to prescribe that as much as some others.
I feel like a lab rat.What side effects does you doctor say for you to look for? How do you know when to much is enough? -L

I picked my 36mg Concerta and will start tomorrow. I think the hold up with my doc is he wants to play it safe and for me to try the 36mg. If it fails and I go in to see him, I'm sure I can try Adderall. Did the increased dopamine boost increase your sex drive, or was it just a guy thing?
The only thing that makes me hesitant is going down that road. Concerta's a prime example. Started out great with 18mg (sex drive increased!) and 15 days later, not feeling effects and going up in dose. From what I hear, Adderall and all stims have this same problem and where do you end up? Honestly, I think stims are good as an add on and I'm sort of "tesing" them since I'm on no other meds currently, to get a true read on the "anxiety" factor, which by the way Concerta causes no anxiety with me which really suprised me after reading all the negative posts about it. The only side I'm having is a headache that hits a few hours after I take it.
