Years ago when my pdoc wanted to take me off xanax for a rest he substituted klonopin. One Sunday out of the blue I said to my husband I think I feel suicidal. We called the pdoc and he said to go off the klonopin and start back on the xanax. He spoke on his car phone almost to himself when he said "it's the klonopin". I didn't want to die. That was what was so strange. I went back on the xanax and the feelings went away. Years later when I took it it just made me feel dumb. Fondly, Phillipa

Yes, it does in some people. Especially when anxiety coexists with depression.

The only Benzo's I've had experience with are Klonopin and Diazepam.

I certainly found that although Klonopin wiped out my social anxiety it also made me depressed and groggy, to the point were I just wanted to curl up and go to sleep.
So it wasn't that good for socialising

I took one pill once. I started sobbing. I called my pdoc and said I can't take any more of this stuff I feel terrible. I haven't since.

A few weeks back, my doctor wanted me to increase my Klonopin to .5 twice a day. I hesitated but did it.

That night, I was on the floor, in the fetal position, crying about not wanting to live anymore. My husband immediately knew it was the Klonopin dosage.

When i only take .25 a day (broken up twice) I do okay on it, but anything above that seems to kick in depression bit time for me.

Go figure- it helps my anxiety but makes me desire death. TOo bad we have to pick and chose between the two!

That's what I was asking about. I hear most people say the xanax and valium don't cause depression as bad as klonopin. So maybe switching would help.

I am not as sensitive to it as others but yes I felt more depressed after I had taken it with I think zoloft. Pain doctor kept me on it for neck and shoulder problems so it was better than being in pain everyday. Switched to cymbalta no more pain or sleeping problems;but "hated it"

it always shocks me when i hear people are so sensitive to this stuff. I take six sometime 8 mg of klonpin in the morning and leave it at that for the day. I dont find it sedating at all. It just makes me a little foggy, less aware of people around me. I bump into people by accident and stuff. I much prefer this to constantly grinding my teeth a worrying if im going to run into somebody i know in the street.

Nonetheless, yeah i found it caused a slight increase in depression at first. That passes though. For me I never know how much depression to attribute to benzos and how much to our "afflictions"

ive had totally the opposite experience with clonopin. totally knocks out my anxiety, irritability, short temperedness, doesnt make me tired (.5mg twice a day) no sexual side effects and no depression. i love it!
