ok i went to fill my Rx the other day and got home to realize the Rx was for 20mg ritalin, i normally take the LA. i called pdoc and he wrote out a new script saying it would definately effect me differently. however, i've been lazy and last two days just using the old ones and haven't gotten my new script filled. the thing is i'm doing almost better on this.
My question is, is the 20mg LA like release 10mg when i first take it and another 10 in a few hours? or 20mg when first take and another 20 later on??
b2c.how does the LA work i guess is what i'm asking.

20 mg of LA equals 10 mg of regular ritalin. So you have been taking twice your normal dose. If you take 20 mg of LA it will give you 5 mg immediatly and 5 mg are slowly released.

actually the LA formulation for 20 mg is 10 mg immediately, followed by 10 mg four hours later, to simulate dosing immediate release Ritalin four hours apart (so 10 mg LA would be 5mg/5mg, 30 mg would be 15 mg/15 mg, etc.)

i notice i feel Much better since i was taking the 20 reg. so i might ask my pdoc if he can up to 40mgLA (right?)

Were you taking the 20 mg immediate release Ritalin once or twice a day? I took the 30 mg LA for a while, but I had to work more than an eight-hour day (it's presumed that IR Ritalin has an effect for four hours, but this number is actually a wild approximation) and would regularly fall apart by 4 pm, which tends to be an awful time for me anyway. I was taking 30 mg Ritalin LA twice a day. It's possible that I would have been better off taking 40 mg once a day, but I had other side effects from the ritalin that made me drop it altogether.

I was wrong 20 mg LA = 20 regular. The only difference is on regular you are receiving it all at once.

i normally take 20mgLA, but Rx was wrong and a few days took 20mg regular, it seemed to perk me up in the morning a little better. heck, maybe i was just having a good week. am back on 20LA and don't seem to be as 'focused', work as well. i think i'll mention to pdoc and see what he thinks...h@ll maybe it's all psychosomatic???
