Were you taking the 20 mg immediate release Ritalin once or twice a day? I took the 30 mg LA for a while, but I had to work more than an eight-hour day (it's presumed that IR Ritalin has an effect for four hours, but this number is actually a wild approximation) and would regularly fall apart by 4 pm, which tends to be an awful time for me anyway. I was taking 30 mg Ritalin LA twice a day. It's possible that I would have been better off taking 40 mg once a day, but I had other side effects from the ritalin that made me drop it altogether.
