Hey all,
what is going on with me. I have been going through a depression and can't concentrate. But I have been on Cymbalta for several weeks and my mood is so much better. However, my concentration is still down. I can bearly read a few paragraphs. Also, the Cymbalta makes me feel full of engery so that I have trouble sitting still. I'm thinking that must be anxiety.I going to sign up with the disabled student center, but I need some paperwork filled out by my pdoc, whom I won't see until Thursday. I'm getting behind in my work.
Any thoughts about what's going on? Any ideas as to what to do till thurs?
thanks,
dm

When you say "energy" is it nervous energy? Is it a feel good energy like you can do anything.. or is it more shakey inside, restless energy??
Sometimes the norepiphrine in Cymbalta can cause anxiety in some people- it's more of a type of stimulant.
Do you ingest much caffeine? I know people on Cymbalta that had to swear off caffeine totally because it would create that type of anxiety.

It is if it interfers with your ability to enjoy life and function. How about something to calm you down for awhile? Fondly, Phillipa

Well, when I had "nervous energy" it was horrible, so maybe mine and yours are quite different.
Mine was a complete inner restlessness that I could not control. I felt like I needed to be running a marathon or climbing Mt. Everest but my mind was also very racey and I was just generally uncomfortable in my own body.If you feel THAT way, than it is NOT good. It could very well be akathasia (which is bad, bad I tell ya!).
So talk to your dr. about this asap. If it gets unbearable, go to the ER or take 2 Benadryl.
Let us know how it goes.

I started taking Cymbalta about 3 weeks ago, and the first week I felt very hyper, couldn't stop working or thinking in order to go to sleep. However, that has subsided, and I don't feel jittery anymore. In fact, I think it's probably the best anti-depressant that I've found so far. Maybe it will take a few weeks for your body to adjust.
Good luck, because I've found that it takes lots of patience when taking a new mind-altering medication.
This is the end of the thread.
