I recently increased my Effexor dosage from 150 to 225mg and have noticed a big difference in my desire to have sex. Orgasms are also more intense than they were and it takes less time to achieve them. I also started taking 50mg Doxepin as a sleep aid about a week ago. I'm wondering which AD may be having this effect on me or if it could be the combo. Has anyone experienced this or have any insight?

I'm not sure if it's the drug itself, or the relief from depression, but the short answer is yes. When an antidepressant kicks in and works its magic, I do have more desire, and arousal is easier.
The problem I have, though, is that the desire and arousal are it. Climax ain't an option. (Periactin helps me with this, though.)
My advice on the subject: if anorgasmia ain't a problem, who cares which drug does it -- just *enjoy* it!

Could be one of these three things or some combination thereof:1) Doxepin does have some ability to blockade serotonin 2A receptors, which will tend to counteract orgasm difficulties induced by serotonergic drugs like Effexor. However, this is a relatively weak effect compared to its powerful histamine blockade.
2) Effexor begins having more effect on blocking norepinephrine reuptake at dosages of 225 mg/day and above, and norepinephrine transmission is very important in the orgasm process.
3) Effexor also weakly blockades dopamine reuptake; it's theoretically possible this may have a positive effect on sexual function, again, more at higher dosages.
If I had to guess, I would say the 2nd possibility is the most likely one.
