Does anyone have any experience with or knowledge of remeron withdrawl? I had to discontinue taking it after 2years and am concerned about any reactions. Thanks

I was on Remeron for almost 2 years and had little or no withdrawals. I was also on Prozac, Lithium and Lamictal at that time. I stopped all of them and waited 2 weeks before moving on to Nardil which I took for 5 months and discontinued, waited another 2 weeks and am not on Lexapro. I was unable to sleep on Nardil, but it did lift my unipolar depression. I have been on Lex for 2 months and am depression free.

I had a couple of days of mild nausea & my sleep has pretty much returned to what I had before.

Cheers,

It seems to really vary. Most of what I have heard is that it is fairly easy to withdraw from, but on another board I've gone to there were several people who had problems going off even with a slow taper. One person who had problems said taking benadryl seemed to help some of the withdrawal symptoms.

Good Luck! I will be starting a taper in another couple of weeks myself, so I'll let everybody know how it goes.

On that note, does anyone know if remeron comes in 7.5mg tablets or is 15mg the smallest?

I just quit cold turkey after about two years of use and had no problems besides a few days of hyperactivity. Slee would have been a problem without Seroquel.

Hey there, I've got some more information.

According to the PI, remeron has a half life of anywhere from 20-40 hours and interestingly enough it varies according to gender! The average half life for males is 26 hours, while for females its 37 hours. Based on this, I would think, in general, it would therefore be easier for females to get off this drug.

I would taper just to be safe. I'm afraid because I had to do the slowest paxil taper you have ever heard of to get off of it.

I hope I'm one of the lucky ones who is closer tothe 40 hour half life on remeron.

Keep us posted!
