Who can tell me about remeron. My doc wants me to take 2 weeks to decide if remeron is right for me. I will slowly be replacing 60 mg of celexa. Supposidly remeron is low in sexual side-effects. Since 3 years have passed since any type of sexual contact, approximately the amount of time I have been taking celexa. I'm looking to trade it. I'm 28. I also take 7.5 mg zyprexa, and 300 mg wellbutrin. The problem is my interest is none, I don't pick up on hints. I can tell they are interested, I just ALWAYS screw it up. So, I want all and any information on remeron, my sex life is getting too desperate.

Remerom works okay for depression, if you don't mind WEIGHT-GAIN. That might inhibit the sex-life your seeking to restore (sorry, that was a bit of a low remark I know).
Anyhow, I actually don't know how frequent weight-gain is with Remeron but whenever I tried it, I immediately gained weight and stopped.
If you are looking for an anti-depressant that is not an SSRI, why not try a tricyclic antidepressant like Desipramine.
Desiprimaine does not cause weight gaine if I recall, and also is not sedating like Remeron. Unless an TCA is contraindicated in your case and your doctor would know, I would go that route.

Remeron is excellant for sexual disfunction, give it a go, just dont pig out on carbs, cus u may tend to crave them... dont go shopping on an emty stomach..

There should be no difference between generic and name brand, but others might know better about that than me.
Remeron worked very well for my depression/anxiety. AND I slept like a baby, which I couldn't do before. I had absolutely no sexual side effects, and it might've even enhanced it a bit.
The reason I'm using past tense, however, is that is made me gain 30 lbs. Now, part of that is my fault. I ate like a pig and enjoyed every minute of it.
I realize now that I'm on no meds, that a little extra weight is nothing compared to the hideous feeling of not wanting to enjoy life.
A little extra advice, you might want to give it more than a couple weeks. Maybe like four, just to give it a fair chance.

How well did Remeron work on anxiety? Did by chance (totaly seperate question) remeron help anyone switch from zyprexa, for their anxiety, sleep, eat(lack of on no zyprexa)?

I think that your doc's suggestion is excellent. Just make sure that you do regular exercise to avoid the weight gain that some people get on Remeron.
Remeron is interesting in the sense that lower doses cause more sedation than higher doses.

Good, about the higher doses, thats my plan. Definitly think I will give it a try. Just hope I can handle the med change. I'm not too worried about weight gain. After all I've been able to keep the weight down on zyprexa, for the last year.

Remeron worked great on my anxiety. I even had a trip to mexico planned. Now, without it, just leaving town is too stressful.
I don't know about zyprexa, but I was on effexor and switched over just fine. In fact, it was a relief to finally enjoy food and get a good night's sleep.

I was just curious how long have you been on remeron??
I was reading the other day some information on remeron and it said that it has a tendency to just stop working. I was just curious to know if that is truthful or if you have heard anything like that

So hopefully it'll work out okay in the sexual department. 2 weeks seems like too short a time to tell for certain if it will have good AD effect for you. Especially since you'll be transitioning off of Celexa. It took several weeks to kick in for me. Of course that doesn't mean it would necessarily take that long for you.

I have been taking it for roughly 7-8 months & have been taking 30mg for most of that time. Recently I tried going down to 22.5 mg as requested by my pdoc & I had trouble sleeping through the night & had a lot of vivid dreams breaking through which is caused by Effexor. After 2 weeks I got sick of it & poor sleep made me really grumpy & depressed so I went back to 30mg & I instantly got back in to a good mood the very next day. :) I haven't heard of Remeron suddenly pooping out, OTOH, I don't think it does much in the first place as monothearpy. I am using Remeron as a remedy for Effexor's side effects & I think that an SSRI + Remeron is like a good TCA with much less side effects.

I haven't actualy started the remeron yet. My doctor wants me to research the med and decide for the next appointment if I want to take it.

My hope was to replace both zyprexa and celexa with remeron. Do you think it would work taking it with just wellbutrin?

Hi i take remeron 30mg alone have been for a year it done wonders for me at the beggining for my anxiety starting to poop out on me now though.. but if you take it till it starts to poop out then just add another med with it, ssri and remeron together is a good combo.... shame i cant tolerate ssri's..

I'm not convinced the celexa is doing anything. I want to stop it, but, my doctor wants me taking it. So, I'm stoping, or cutting down for now.
I'm not even sure I need the remeron either (I take enough stuff).
I keep the wellbutrin so I don't smoke as much.
The zyprexa is slow, very slow, coming off it. Maybe in a couple years I'll be done with that.
I was hoping the remeron would replace zyprexa and celexa. But I'm changing my mind now. I realy don't need any more. Why not just stick with the ones I have and cut down. Switching would probably be painfull with the withdraw. I doubt that was the doctors plan anyways.

How would you compare the tiredness factor of remeron to celexa. And the eating factor. Would remeron make a good change over from celexa?
