This is very common. For most depressed people, their mood actually starts to lift around 5pm ish.

Ditto, me too! I feel great in the evenings and think of all the great plans I'll have the next day.
Then I wake up the next morning and all those good feelings are gone. Wonder why that is?
I find that if I get up and avoid TV, computer and immediately start an activity, even go for a walk, it's not as bad.

i never should have gone off my meds! :( i'm forcing myself to go to the gym and do some cardio in the hopes of that helping. when i wake up in the morning, i don't want to get out of bed, but once i do, i feel a little bit better. but throughout the day, i usually feel worse. i hate feeling this way!

Hey Gang,

I definitely feel better at night than during the day. Now my sleep cycles are all screwy b/c of it. I've been rolling out of bed at 5:00 pm and going to sleep around 3 or 4 am. It's 2 am right now, and I just feel like an "average Joe". It's nice, and feels as if, "okay, I'll set the alarm, wake up w/ the 'rest of the world' and feel normal". But then, the AM blues hit, and I end up sleeping all day. Happy to hear other's are in the same boat. Too bad I can't just store up the normal moods and save them for next morning :)

Regards,
Man-oh-man

Yes there certainly is something about the night.I dread the day. I think it has something to do with things being calm and we know it and wehave perhaps just taken our meds and then wehn we do go to sleep its like a major escape from the reality of our mental state. Wish I could bottle the time between 11pm and 2 to 3 am lately .Just also goes to show you that there are serious circadian rythyms and what not going into play in the bio-logical substrates and underpinnings of mood disorders. Sometimes I hate to go to sleep cuz morning comes too soon!

Same here.
Nightime is my most peaceful time...even when not terribly depressed. But certainly the daytime is the worst when depressed.

My guess is it has something to do with our body's Biorhythm Cycles. Our natural "energy" circulates in a predetermined manner every 24 hour period.
Evening must be a time when stress levels are low, or endorphins are high.

I wonder if those across the Globe experience the same thing? I mean it is daytime here in Ohio
right now...so a person in China who has depression and/or anxiety feel better right now?
Just curious.

that's a very good question. i'm sure their rhythms are just the same as ours and are on their "clock".
