Anyone out there taking Geodon? One of my medications is causing me to have diarrhea all of the time and I suspect Geodon may be it. I am also on lithium, lamictal, welbutrin and lexapro.
If anyone has an idea please let me know.

i am on geodon 150, lamictal 359 and wellbutrin 300. we have a similar mix. the geodon has never given me diarrea. how long have you been on the lithium? diarrea is a side effect of lithium. some people can't tolerate it do to upset stomach. what dose of geodon are you on?

I have been on the lithium for 3 years and on 120mg of Geodon for 2 years. I am presently taking 1200mg of lithium but i did not know about it causing diarrhea.

My doc wanted give me GEODON but after talking, we decided tha no. I am in lamictal,wellbutrin and some others(no lithium).
What would you say me about Geodon? Is is a good medicine taking in lower(max 80mg) doses as an adjunct to ADs?
Please, post the results than I can maybe talk with my doc again.

I started taking Geodon about 3 years ago after my doctor had already tried Resperdol and even at it's highest dosage it did not relieve thehallucinations. She then tried several other drugs but we only got a minimum of relief from them also. I am very hard to medicate. Out of desperation she gave me a sample of Geodon really not expecting it to work but it did. I have not been bothered by hallucinations since I started taking it.

I've been on all of those drugs at one time or another (except lithium) and the only one that caused diarrhea was Lexapro. The diarrhea started the very next day after I started Lexapro and stopped three days after I switched to Effexor. You can imagine I'm not too keen on Lexapro.

Thanks shoebox I had a feeling the Lexapro might be doing it but I am on lithium too and so I guess I am doomed to have to stay close to a bathroom for the rest of my life.

Hey--if you are having diarrhea just from lithium, you are on too much lithium. It's not supposed to give you diarrhea if the dosage is correct, and I know several people on lithium who had the problem solved after they tweaked their dosages. Ask your pdoc. Do your hands tremble too? That is also a sign that you are on too much lithium.

Shoe I am on lithium but my doc has already cut back on it as far as she can due to tremmors. any less and I go into a manic episode.
