How long does Adderall XR last? I've read varying accounts, from 8 hours to 12 hours. I'm also interested to know when the blood level peaks. I tried finding this information at some Adderall XR websites, but I couldn't find it, and I guess it's too new to be in the PDR.

I know this is a very cliche answer, but it really depends. I was told by my doctor that I metabolize Adderall (even the XR) very quickly. Effects only last 5-6 hours for me; I'm having to take two doses on the XR a day.
I've heard personal accounts that the XR lasts all day (up to 12-14 hours) for some people. I guess it really depends mostly on your weight, metabolism and dose.
Sorry to have given such a generic answer - I just had to give some input.

Adderall XR works for about 6-7 hours in my case.
When I first started taking it, I was careful to take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach because I think it works better, but I've gotten lazy.
I'm not taking it until around 11 am, and that's after I've eaten breakfast. It's not as effective that way.
I've also read that drinking excessive caffeine can mitigate its effectiveness, so I would recommend reducing caffeine intake to one cup, if any. That's tough for me, but it does seem to help.

Hi.
Thanks for the information. Yes, it seems that many of these "long-acting" meds are really not so long-acting after all. I think one of the longest-acting for me is Concerta, and even that doesn't last 12 hours; it's more like 8-10, but at least it's not a precipitous decline.

Why are you looking for the longest-acting pstim? Do you have trouble with taking a second dose (say of a shorter-acting stimulant)?
How long does a Dexedrine Spansule last for you?
Trying to figure this out myself.
