Minor tranquilizers?
Could you have PTSD? (painful flashbacks and all?)

Never mind what I wrote. I'm sorry if it sounded pretentious.

*blink* You went to my church as a child?
In wisconsin?
It's a little white church in the middle of nowhere, the sunday school is a separate building.
And at the front of the church, on the left, is a pictre of jesus with children in a meadow. Ohwait, it might be sheep too. I'm not sure anymore.

Sounds very similar. :)

You have always been there for everyone on this board, always coming up with good links and suggestions. We are also here for you.

Also, I was surpised to hear you haven't used Klonopin. It has a pretty good anti-dread, Anti-psychological pain, Anti-OCD, antianxiety drug.

Keep us posted.

Our classes where in the basement, and we would go upstairs to sing or outside to play. I'm up in Northern Onatario, though I believe there may be some similarity to Wisconsin.

Could you please tell me what drugs you "respect the most" that weren't on his list? Are they FDA approved drugs?

The only viable drugs I can think of that are not on my list are amisulpride, tianeptine, adrafanil, moclobemide, and reboxetine.

I think he means the ones that have worked for him: antipsychotics and stimulants, especially Amisulpride, Adrafinil and Zyprexa. Unfortunately, they don`t work miracles for everyone. What I`ve Tried: Desipramine, Doxepin, Imipramine, Amitriptyline, Nortriptyline, Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa, Luvox, Effexor, Wellbutrin, Remeron, Nardil, Parnate, Trazodone, St. John`s Wort, SAM-e, Anafranil, Serzone, Buspar, Clonazepam, Xanax, Temazepam, Ambien, Atenolol, Lithium, Neurontin, thyroid supplement, Ritalin, Dexedrine, Zyprexa, Reboxetine, Amisulpride and Adrafinil. No miracles.

I asked my pdoc about adrafinil awhile back, and he wasn't familiar with it. Is it FDA approved???

> I think he means the ones that have worked for him: antipsychotics and stimulants, especially Amisulpride, Adrafinil and Zyprexa.

Amisulpride is a little weird because its effects are very dose-dependent: I think lower doses work for depression, while higher ones are needed for an antipsychotic effect.

> Unfortunately, they don`t work miracles for everyone.

Of course not. But amisulpride is one of the many drugs we don't have in the US that I think would be worth having.

God, so many tricyclics and SSRIs!

I don't believe in miracles. But did any of them help at *all*?

No, you'd have to get it from overseas. The somewhat-similar modafinil (Provigil) is, however. (That's one that I forgot to mention on my list.)

Are there really that many people getting these things from overseas. It scares me to try something like that, because if you got used to the drug and then the supply got cut off - it seems like that would be a VERY bad thing. It seems like a precarious situation. I sometimes hate how conservative the FDA is, but I guess if I sustained permanent bodily damage due to an approved drug, I wouldn't be happy with them either.

Bingo! Now you're on the right track. :-)

Based on all your posts I have read, I would place a bet that your best odds for success are with Amisulpride, or Amisulpride+Adrafinil combo. I hate to admit it, but Reboxetine and Moclobemide both have disappointed most people who have tried them, here at this board anyway.

Yes, I think so. There are legal channels you can go through (with your doctor's assistance) to get drugs that aren't available here, but I think there's a lot of red tape involved. Most common non-controlled drugs are probably easy to get; I'm not so clear about controlled ones.

> I sometimes hate how conservative the FDA is, but I guess if I sustained permanent bodily damage due to an approved drug, I wouldn't be happy with them either.

I once heard a joke about the FDA: they require that drugs be tested on animals and Europeans before they can be tested on Americans. (But they don't actually let drug companies use data acquired from testing drugs outside of the US.)

That's a derisive way of putting it. I'm willing to take his word that he's found relief from drugs that aren't available in the US. The FDA makes it very difficult to get new drugs approved (probably influenced in part by pressure from some drug companies which don't want competition), and there's just about no incentive to try to get a drug approved after its patent has expired.
