I've got depresseion, dysthimia, plus social phobia. I've tried nearly all AD, and finally I found moclobémide which did the best work for me, without any side effects at all. Moclobémide is a recent MAOI which you can't find in US but it's available on internet pharmacies. If someone don't know what to try next...

>Sigolene,
What is the dosage? How long did it take to notice the positive effects. Did it have a robust effect on your social phobia? What type of depression do you suffer from? I have seriously been considering moclobemide as an adjucnt to ritilin (that is assuming my new pdoc will prescribe a stim). I have researched all the remaining AD's that I have not tried and have found them all unacceptable. Too many nasty side-effects. Does anyone have any thoughts on the following coctail: mirapex + moclobemide + ritilin?
Sigolene, out of curiousity, have you ever tried deprynel? I was wondering if the effects are similar to moclobemide.

Sigolene,
So glad that you have fouond something that helps. I also would like to know about your experience. Your dosage? What symptoms has it specifically helped you with (and what symptoms are still a problem). How long have you been taking it. As a reversible MAO-I inhibitor, it is in a class of (marketed) drugs by itself. And, yes, unfortunately, the drug is not marketed in the U.S.

Good on ya. Didn't work 4 me but I agree it has an excellent side-effect profile, even @ high doses. 'Cleanest' of the ADs 4 me.

> Hi,I never tried deprynel. Moclobémide took aobut 2 weeks to work, i'm taking the lowest dosage 300mg, but I began with 50 mg then 3 days after 100 etc... It has a low effect on social phobia but it's supposed to work for that indication at 600 mg per day. I don't need Ritalin any more with moclobémide, and it's counterindicated anyway.

I've got 300mg now, but I think i'm going to increase up to 450 mg, because for social phobia it's supposed to be taken at a higher dosage. But my depression has completely desappeared, which is already a great thing. I've got atypical depression. It also help with ADD. I've no symptoms left, except mild social phobia. I've been taking this med only for 2 mounths.

Hi Sigolene,
Had you tried the MAOI's, such as, Parnate and Nardil before trying moclobémide?

"Moclobémide is less risky."

> SigolèneDear Sigolene,
In what way is it less risky? Do you have to abide by the MAOI diet?

Sigolene,
You say no side effects. No weight gain,no insomnia ? Sounds great. Can you tell me how long did it take for you to notice the effects of this drug? Can you tell me what other AD's you had tried and your reaction to them? I would greatly appreciate it.Thanks,
Lynne

> LynneI tried first ludiomil, i had lot of weight gain, but it was effcace.
Then prozac, serzone, celexa, paxil, wellbutrin, reboxetine: no effect on depression and bad side effects like insomnia
then gamonil, stablon, remeron, desyred: mild effet on depression, but not stong enough, and little weight gain.
Moclobémide took 2 weeks to work at 300mg, but you shoudl increase dosage slowly.Sigolène
