really cool dream I had...

Posted by CarolAnn on April 24, 2000, at 9:16:55

It started out with just a regular story line, with me and a bunch of other characters. Then, at one point in the plot where we were all together, I realized that I was dreaming. I looked around and said to the others, "Who are you people, really, anyway?". This is the cool part: They said that they were actually real people who had died and were waiting for their time to be reborn, and meanwhile, they could go into the dreams of live people and play characters, like actors in a show. Later in the dream, still aware that it was a dream, either I or one of the characters said some really hokey, corny, thing. I sort of glanced around at all of them, rolled my eyes, and said, "Who writes this stuff?!?".

Then they decided to show me the process of being reborn, it was all kind of metaphoric, I think. First we were in an elevator and had these books, which were the books of the life we were going to. We could read them, but we knew that we would not be allowed to remember them. The next part of the journey was like a rollercoaster ride, except there was a conductor. As the ride slowed, I saw that we were in a city, which was where I was going to be born. I realized that the city was Atlanta, GA, and I said, to the conductor(again rolling my eyes, apparently I am just as sarcastic in dreams as in real life!), "Oh jeez, I don't want to born in Atlanta!". Then suddenly, the dream was over, and I woke up just enough to secure the details in my memory, because it seemed important that I do so.
Anyway, even if all it was is random synapses firing, it was a cool dream! CarolAnn

carolann,
have you concidered a dream therapist? my therapist helps me to interpret my dreams and it has helped me a lot to figure a lot of things out inside myself, especially the deep down issues. or even a dream journal can help. and it's more convenient and doesn't cost anything except for buying a spiral notepad. your dreams have so much depth to them. wow. what a powerful dream. i have a very large dream life. i can sometimes remember 6 dreams a night. anyway, good luck and have fun with your dream life!

peace
kate

Heya, Carol Ann,
What an incredibly neato dream! I shouldn't let the fact that I am really inclined to believe in reincarnation color my enthusiasm, but it's too late. hahaha. Did you ever read a book called "Many Lives, Many Masters" by Brian Weiss? He is a very traditional and very skeptical psych who unwittingly led one of his patients into hypnosis and numerous past life experiences. By the time he was through, he was no longer a skeptic. Very fascinating and very inspiring. The woman he treats supposedly consulted "spirit guides" in between the past lives and relates their wisdom while under hypnosis. The kind of state that you sort of dreamed about. Check out the book, it's a great read.

Aside from my enthusiasm about reincarnation, I am also a big fan of dreams. They really are expressions of your unconcious, and can be great tools in understanding your unconcious motives. Some of my greatest personal growth can be attributed to a dream I was not only blessed to have, but also blessed to be able to interpret accurately enough. It was about a year ago, and to this day I still find new meaning in that dream. You're really lucky to have such a vivid dream life! Seize those images and figure out the symbolism. Keep a dream journal, and get a book or a person to help you interpret them. Personally, I don't keep a journal, but I know a symbol-loaded dream when I have one and they usually stick in my head.

If you don't mind, I would like to add my own humble interpretation of your dream, but only if you respond and tell me you would like it. Dream on! Sending lots of love.

I love this type of discussion! And I'd love to hear your interpretation!
By the way, can you interpret the one where I'm having sex with Elvis(the young version!)?!? Ha Ha Ha!

Looking forward to your post!

If you crave more interpretation than you receive here, there are also sites on the web devoted to just that! Isn't the web pretty incredible? BTW it was a cool dream.

OK, Carol Ann, you asked for it. Realize that my analysis is based in part on my own personal beliefs, partly on the deluded idea that I have a bit of psychic ability, and partly on my tendency to project my own issues onto other people. hahaha. Hey, we're all guilty! So here it goes:

From the few posts of yours that I have read, you have suffered your share of pain and agony. In spite of all that, you have a great sense of humor about yourself and seem to be able to keep your head above water and your chin held high as life assails you with its slings and arrows. I would guess that at this point in your life things are relatively stable for you and you are cautiously optimistic about your ability to create your own happiness. Perhaps in the back of your mind, though, you are waiting for the next pile of garbage to hit your head.

I think your dream was telling you, or rather, reminding you that you chose all of this before you were born. I really believe that. It may or may not be true, but that belief is a great source of strength for me. Those books of knowledge represented the script of your present life that you were allowed to review but not be permitted to remember. Think about it. You've made it this far and you're still kicking. You still have a sense of humor and seem to have a very healthy sense of yourself that is able to review your life, good times and bad, with objectivity and compassion. And sure, maybe next week you'll get hit with another excruciating ordeal. Or maybe you won't. The point is that if you do, you need the ordeal to learn what you need to learn. I believe we get everything we need, every day, to keep us up to the challenge. I think your dream was telling you that you are precisely where you need to be, right here, right now.

I have read that in each life, we all have a personal lesson to learn, and once the lesson is learned, a gift to give the world. What a neato idea. I'd love to think that my personal lessons are largely behind me, and cringe to think that there are more excruciating experiences I will have to endure. But hey, I am happy now and I have to remind myself that worrying about pain and suffering really limits me and keeps me from shining my light into the world. What I need for my healing is what I get in my lifetime, so why worry about what might be? Better to start giving what I can now with confidence and faith in myself, and if the tough times return, hey, what the hell. It's only life after all!

I hope you enjoyed my post, you sound like a great person to know. As far as your Elvis dream, I am going to leave the analysis alone...hahaha. But tell me, was he any good? They mustn't have called him "The Pelvis" for nothing!

Hey, go back up to the thread that contains my "novel" and read my post entitled "To Mark H." I related to him that big dream I mentioned to you.

I must be a tad psychic too, I had already read your "dream" post before the p.s.(well, actually I just read all your posts automatically, 'cause I like them!).

The amazing thing about your dream analysis, is that it's pretty much the same as my interpretation! You and I seem to have an extremely similar belief system. You are right that I am fairly stable right now, but am always aware how fragile that state is. I do have a sense of humour, although my major complaint is that, and I quote myself, "Nobody 'gets' me!!". It's a quirky little sense of humour, but the great thing is that even at my deepest, darkest, times, it's there, macabre, but there.
Like you, I am hoping that my major LIFE'S lessons have been learned, though I suspect I may have a few more exams to pass. It's interesting that you talked about the "gifts" we're meant to give. The past several weeks, I have had such a strong feeling of, "what is my purpose? what am I supposed to be doing? And, whatever it is, will I be able to do it while dealing with the needs of a husband and toddler?" I am working on letting go of these questions and having faith that when the right time comes, all will be revealed to me.
I hope that we can continue this line of discussion, no one I know ever questions their existance, let alone wants to converse about it.
CarolAnn
P.S. As far as Elvis "the pelvis"...I woke up too soon, 'nuff said!!
